She sets herself up for the slower ball and she waits and waits and waits and then hits it. That's the difference. She's been swinging.

  2. 6 runs

    WI 45-0published at 7.5 overs

It's been a long time coming, but Qiana Joseph finally nails one.

    A big six over long-off.

  3. WI 38-0published at 7.3 overs

The other issue for West Indies is Qiana Joseph isn't as quick between the wickets as Hayley Matthews.

They really should have got two after a top-edged hook shot, but it's only a single and Jospeh is back on strike.

Is it time to retire Qiana Joseph? Either retire or go out swinging.

  5. WI 37-0published at 7 overs

A tidy over from Ash Gardner despite that dropped catch.

West Indies are going at less than a run a ball, which simply won't be enough.

That was so random. She had hold of that for ages.

  7. Joseph dropped on 6published at 6.3 overs

The first ball Qiana Joseph gets out of the middle of the bat is straight down the throat of Georgia Voll at deep midwicket.

However, she puts down a fairly straightforward catch, perhaps worried about the boundary sponge behind her.

Australia have put the brakes on a little bit here.

  9. dropped catch

Matthews dropped on 27published at 6 overs

Potentially a big moment to end the powerplay.

Lucy Hamilton dives full length to her left and gets a good hand on a powerful pull shot from Hayley Matthews.

It's only a half-chance, but it goes down as a drop nonetheless.

They're toying with Qiana Joseph now and she's getting frustrated. I feel like Hayley Matthews is getting even more frustrated.

  11. WI 34-0published at 5.5 overs

Two more dots for Qiana Joseph before a miscue over cover brings one.

    She has six off 16.

  12. WI 32-0published at 5.1 overs

A much-needed boundary for West Indies as Hayley Matthews guides one past short third for four.

  13. WI 28-0published at 5 overs

Qiana Joseph keeps chewing up balls.

Four straight dots to finish the fifth over. Something has to give.

  14. WI 28-0published at 4.2 overs

Hayley Matthews tries to wallop Lucy Hamilton down the ground, but slices it high in the air, just short of the diving Ash Gardner.

    A stroke of luck.

This is where Australia are good. Lucy Hamilton started loose in that first over, but they've started to squeeze and made it difficult.

  16. WI 27-0published at 4 overs

    Superb stuff from Kim Garth.

Just two singles off the fourth over.

  17. WI 26-0published at 3.3 overs

Qiana Joseph can't get going at all.

She has four from eight balls after successive dots from Kim Garth.

The left-hander then gets off strike with a streaky inside edge.

  18. WI 25-0published at 3 overs

A very steady start for West Indies, led by their captain Hayley Matthews.

They know a big score is imperative if they are to cause an upset today.

For me, I feel like this West Indies side isn't about the bug guns, it's about who can chip away. If players can just offer 20's or 30's in reasonable time, that could get them to that 180 or 200 score.

  20. WI 23-0published at 2.2 overs

    Ooft.

Sophie Molineux brings herself into the attack and thinks she's got Hayley Matthews first ball.

The West Indies skipper somehow gets bat on an arm ball and cuts it off middle stump for four.

Much more convincing off the next delivery, as a powerful sweep flies to the square-leg boundary.
