  1. Eng 48-3published at 7.3 overs

Ayabonga Khaka is brought into the attack. England will need to target a bowler soon, will she be the one?

Heather Knight opens the face of the bat and guides the ball through third for a boundary.

What a shot, lovely from Nat Sciver-Brunt. Just flicked off the pads and it whizzes down to the boundary.

  3. Eng 42-3published at 7 overs

I stand corrected. Nothing nervy about that. Nat Sciver Brunt absolutely middles it through mid-wicket for four. Shot of the evening.

I am not sure if I would have bowled Marizanne Kapp out. You still have powerful batters to come, and you are going to need someone to tie things up. She is bowling out earlier. She needs to strike, again.

  5. Eng 38-3published at 6.3 overs

Almost! Nat Sciver Brunt chips to mid-wicket and it falls just wide of the fielder. The England skipper looks a bit tense.

Mark J: Even with Nat Sciver Brunt's undoubted quality and experience I wasn't sure about changing a winning team. At 23-3 I am glad she is in the middle.

Dave H: Just three boundaries in the powerplay of a must win semi-final - simply not good enough.

England women have won all five of their T20Is at The Oval; beating Australia and New Zealand twice each and India once. Is this previous form enough to dig them out of this current position?

Marizanne Kapp has conceded just nine runs from her three overs. She's about to complete her spell.

Shabnim Ismail is bowling better because she is bowling fuller. There is a lot to be said about pitching it up a little bit and trying to maintain some control.

    Eng 35-3published at 6 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight exchange singles. Time for drinks and time for England to regroup a little.

In all women's T20 internationals, when a team batting first has lost three wickets or more in the powerplay, they have only won 23% of the time.

  12. Eng 33-3published at 5.3 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt is struck in front and Shabnim Ismail - who would make a great salesperson - tries her best to convince her captain to review. It looked high and replays show it was indeed going over the stumps.

A quick, short delivery beats Sciver-Brunt. Beautiful bowling. Three dot balls.

Shabnim Ismail will continue. She got off to a dream start earlier.

  14. Eng 33-3published at 5 overs

The camera pans to a very glum looking Danni Wyatt-Hodge in the dugout.

Heather Knight is the new batter in, by the way. She drives Marizanne Kapp to mid-on where Ismail Davis makes a smart stop.

England need to rebuild here but the pressure will mount up even more with a lack of boundaries.

Wyatt-Hodge has not moved her feet to any delivery. Wafting her bat and relying on luck not the best approach.

Amy Jones is the Ollie Pope of the women's team. Give her a couple of overs to get her eye in and she can be so destructive... the problem is getting there!

Hold on, UltraEdge shows there might have been a slight inside edge. There's a spike. Alice Capsey had a brief conversation with Nat Sciver-Brunt, who advised her not to review.

England will need to rely heavily on their captain. She drives through the covers for a boundary.

It is a little bit quieter. There is a lot of tension in the ground.

At a home World Cup, you want the host nation to go as far as they can.

    Capsey lbw b Ismail 1 (Eng 23-3)

No need to review this one.

Alice Capsey is trapped on the back pad and this time Shabnim Ismail doesn't even need to look behind to see the umpire's decision. Plumb.

England are in big trouble early on.

South Africa are keeping the pressure on. Three in the power play would be difficult to come back from.

Impact was down leg. South Africa lose a review but they have England on the ropes. As we we were.
