Tazmin Brits is the danger here. She has come in and picked up runs.

There are so many South African batters here who can do this job and that is the danger for England.

  2. SA 21-0published at 3 overs

    Target 170

South Africa have previously struggled for top order batters to support Laura Wolvaardt, which is where Tazmin Brits has been crucial for them in recent years.

She helps herself to two boundaries off Linsey Smith, the first is a rather lucky edge but the second is carved nicely past point.

Really think we need to get Laura out early here, she is the one batter than can demolish a score.

Wolvaardt is a strong off-side player and thrives against deliveries in the channel outside off, usually considered the best line to bowl. However, tempting her a little wider outside off stump is often a risk worth taking by the bowler.

    Wolvaardt's average in T20Is:

    • v channel outside off: 37.35
    • v wide outside off: 16.77

    Target 170

Where Laura Wolvaardt is the definition of elegance at the crease, it's fair to say that Tazmin Brits is rather more agricultural with her technique.

It's still effective, however, as she whacks the ball down the ground for South Africa's first boundary.

  6. SA 4-0published at 1.3 overs

A chorus of boos echoes around The Oval as a Lauren Bell bouncer is deemed too high, and is called a wide.

    (It definitely was, though.)

I think it's below par total on this pitch but in a semi-final it's competitive, and the crowd are going to help England here.

Semi-finals are so hard. Someone is going to go big here.

  8. SA 2-0published at 1 over

    Target 170

    Miserly from Linsey Smith.

    Just what the doctor ordered.

  9. SA 1-0published at 0.2 overs

Here we go. A place in the World Cup final is on the line.

Laura Wolvaardt drives down the ground to get South Africa's chase going.

I said England would have to get 170 minimum, so we're there or thereabouts. I would put England as favourites, just.

Here at the Oval. Great atmosphere. Worrying start but such a great rebuild from the two greats Knight and Sciver-Brunt. Come on England, let’s defend this great rebuild total!

Great to see the experienced heads of this team performing in this game and throughout the tournament and proving some doubters wrong. To misquote Alan Hansen, 'You'll never win anything with just kids'!

    Tom, West Bridgford

England are probably 20-30 runs short here. It’s going to need a fantastic efforts from the bowling attack to save this.

  15. 'It's far better chasing a score'published at 20:17 BST

South Africa bowler Shabnim Ismail: "If you talk about 33 after three wickets, we take that powerplay any day. And then you have Heather Knight, and you have Sciver-Brunt out there, I mean, the way they counter-punch, their experience spoke for itself.

"We knew the first six overs we needed to use the conditions, we might just get something up front, and I think we did really well."

On making 50 wickets in T20 World Cups and what keeps her going: "I definitely think my family and teammates keep me young and keep me going, definitely."

On the chase: "Just need to see ball, hit ball I think. No, we knew it was a chaseable total, and this is a good chasing ground, I think, so it's far better chasing a score."

After that partnership of 133 off 90 balls, England will be over the moon. Especially when you consider that dreadful start.

Would you make England slight favourites? WinViz doesn't think they are.

170 is probably a defendable score, although on the lower end on this pitch. Those four byes at the end could prove pivotal.

    Chris, Wolves

169 might be enough. But if Wolvaardt, Brits, or Kapp gets going, South Africa just might do it. How Bell starts may be crucial.

Anna Harris is one of several umpires used in this year's tournament.

Harris - who also works as a doctor for the NHS - made her name as an umpire alongside her mother, Yolanda.

BBC Bitesize caught up with the pair to talk about their journeys in cricket, hopes for the future and what it takes to be a successful umpire.

It feels as though that partnership has swung things England's way.

170 is a magic number here at the Oval. I don't think South Africa will think they have got the personnel to get 170 with the bat.

Now it is about... One, does Laura Wolvaardt get some runs? We know that she has struggled with the bat this tournament.

Another is how South Africa bat against Lauren Bell and Sophie Ecclestone. Those two bowlers will be really key.

The good news for England fans. South Africa have only chased more than this three times in T20s.

The bad news? Two of those three were this year.
