Summary

Have your say on England men this summer

  1. Not outpublished at 55 overs

    Eng 226-9

It is so not out that Will O'Rourke has walked off, changed his bowling spikes, and Nathan Smith is already in place to bowl the next over.

  2. NZ reviewpublished at 55 overs

New Zealand have had a stinking time with reviews today.

They've gone for another against Shoaib Bashir which looks too high on this occasion.

Nathan Smith's 5-70 in this 150th Test at Lord's marked the 200th five-wicket haul in Test cricket at the venue - the most at any ground in the world.

  4. Eng 226-9published at 54.1 overs

    Ooh, that's a ripper.

Will O'Rourke has been a complete nightmare on this surface. He gets one to lift up and ping off Ollie Robinson's glove as he's fending away from his face.

Robinson turns down the single, probably quite begrudgingly after that.

Well, I'm going to argue that commentator's curse does not count on a pitch like this.

Nathan Smith has had to bowl slightly differently in this innings. He hasn't been playing a lot for New Zealand, he hasn't been a regular in the side.

  8. wicket

    Tongue b Smith 5 (Eng 225-9)

    Or not!

Nathan Smith has his five-for, and what a performance it's been considering they have been a bowler down for quite some time.

Full, fast, straight and too good for Josh Tongue, who knocked out a few stumps himself earlier today.

  9. Eng 225-8published at 53 overs

Again, it's gone a little quiet out there as Tongue and Robinson continue to rotate the singles.

That just shows how Atkinson's wicket came out of nowhere earlier.

The main concern for me about New Zealand is that they haven't played much recently in terms of Test cricket and they looked troubled about scoring, hitting England bowlers away, particularly someone like Ollie Robinson on this surface.

  11. Eng 223-8published at 52 overs

Just a single off the over as New Zealand are happy to spread the field and give Ollie Robinson the single for now.

He has 27 from 18 balls, and England now lead by 250.

New Zealand went 28 balls without targeting the stumps prior to Jamie Smith's dismissal.

If Josh Tongue is playing shots like that, maybe 250 isn't enough on this pitch after all...

Glorious shot from Josh Tongue to get off the mark, driving elegantly through the covers.

Here's one. Do we think Ben Stokes has considered declaring and giving New Zealand a tricky hour this evening?

New Zealand know they've been getting wickets, a lot of them, by scooting through low. They will be the batters contending with that if the pitch continues to behave in that way.

Once again a muted celebration from the Kiwis, I think they recognise they've let slip an opportunity.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 50 overs

    Smith b Smith 39 (Eng 213-8)

    You may have a point.

Jamie Smith's fine innings comes to an end as he is cleaned up by his namesake Nathan. It keeps a little low, not quite on the same level as Bethell's, but still a difficult one to keep out.

Still, it was a valuable partnership that might've just rescued the game for England.

On that, here's Gus Atkinson's wicket.

While most wickets have come from good balls on this surface, that certainly wasn't the case here.

  20. Eng 206-7published at 49 overs

    Robinson continues!

He gets a little lucky with a top edge over the keeper for four, a streaky shot which means I won't dare say that he's looking comfortable out there.
