A little bit of extra bounce from Ollie Robinson. You can understand why England took the punt there [to review].

  2. Not outpublished at 4 overs

    NZ 11-1

    Missing leg stump.

    England lose the review.

  3. Eng reviewpublished at 4 overs

Has Ollie Robinson got Williamson again? An lbw appeal is given not out on the field, but Ben Stokes fancies another look.

    Sam Drury

The sun is shining now at Lord's.

No doubt those in the stands will be happy but I reckon England might prefer the gloom of yesterday and that brief spell in the afternoon session.

Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special

Kane Williamson nearly joined the club of Jamie Smith, Daryl Mitchell and Nathan Smith.

  6. NZ 8-1published at 3.1 overs

My goodness, Kane Williamson. Have you watched everyone else who has tried to leave on length?!

Ollie Robinson has his hands on his head as the ball misses off stump by a whisker.

  7. NZ 8-1published at 3 overs

Ooh. Another loose drive but Devon Conway gets away with it as the ball flies past third slip for four.

Gus Atkinson beats him twice outside the off stump in response.

  8. NZ 4-1published at 2 overs

    Target 254

I guess you can't start with a triple-wicket maiden every time.

  9. Postpublished at 18:03 BST 5 June

Ollie Robinson from the other end.

Quick reminder of how he started yesterday, including the wickets of both of these two...

  10. NZ 1-1published at 1 over

    Target 254

Kane Williamson avoids a pair at Lord's as he scampers a quick single.

New Zealand are crying out for a gritty innings here from one of their greats.

    Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

It was a bit of a loose shot, tired shot. New Zealand were perhaps thinking they need to dominate here. What a start for England, getting that early breakthrough.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.3 overs

    Latham c Brook b Atkinson 0 (NZ 0-1)

That, on the other hand, is a shocker.

It's very full and very wide, and for some reason Tom Latham has a big swish and edges to Harry Brook at second slip.

Seems like this pitch has got into Latham's head because there's no way an opener should be playing at that.

  13. NZ 0-0published at 0.2 overs

    A beauty!

Gus Atkinson squares Tom Latham up and he plays and misses, there's half an appeal but it clipped his pad rather than the bat.

He would have no complaints if he got out to that, though.

Gus Atkinson with the new ball.

    254 the target.

    Game on.

It's nicely poised, England with their noses in front but you just never know. If New Zealand get away to a good start, the tension creeps into the bowlers. If it doesn't quite go your way, things can get tense. You get the feeling if England get three out tonight then they'll be confident in winning this match.

It's been a cracker, it's been entertaining. There hasn't been much of it but what we've seen has been good!

How important will that partnership of 57 between Gus Atkinson and Jamie Smith prove to be?

    Sam Drury
    BBC Sport at Lord's

There are still 28 overs to bowl tonight so we could have a pretty good idea which way this one is going by the close of play.

England will back themselves to defend 254 on a pitch doing as much as this but a couple of decent partnerships for New Zealand and they won't be far off.

That went miles in the air. I would not have liked to be under that!

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 56 overs

    Robinson c Phillips b Smith 29 (Eng 226)

    Now then.

A heroic bowling performance from Nathan Smith sees him finish with six wickets as Ollie Robinson tries to push things on with just Shoaib Bashir left for company.

He slogs high up in the air, and Glenn Phillips makes no mistake.

After all that chaos, New Zealand need 254 to win.

Will O'Rourke has really found some movement from that end, he's been terrific. You would not want to face him.
