Have your say on the Women's T20 World Cup

  1. NZ 71-4published at 12 overs

Remember, Ireland have not won a game at a Women's T20 World Cup in 19 attempts.

Brooke Halliday unconvincingly reverse-sweeps Lara McBride and sends the ball looping into the air. Fortunately, it falls short of the fielders.

Much better from New Zealand as Izzy Sharp clips it off her legs for four.

The key word for me is intent. There's been a switch of momentum in New Zealand's batting - there is more intent.

  3. NZ 65-4published at 11 overs

Having started with a nice, tight line, Cara Murray strays down leg and Brooke Halliday helps it along down to the fine-leg boundary.

A solid over, still. Just six from it.

It is getting to the stage where one of these batters needs to take ownership and go through the gears.

  5. NZ 59-4published at 10 overs

Some brilliant fielding by Arlene Kelly at short fine-leg to save a boundary is followed by some woeful fielding in the deep by Alice Tector as it goes through her legs for four.

Lara McBride doesn't look overly happy. She bowled pretty well in that over.

There's no point putting their foot on the break - Ireland should try and win this game as soon as possible.

  7. NZ 51-4published at 9 overs

Izzy Sharp is the new batter in and is off the mark with a single.

Brooke Halliday needs to take the reins now for New Zealand. She's been pretty quiet so far with 11 off 13.

That is a massive breakthrough. She was trying to release the pressure.

    Kerr c Little b Murray 30 (NZ 48-4)

Captain Melie Kerr is caught at deep mid-wicket.

It's a fine delivery from Cara Murray - flighted in and inviting Kerr to go big.

The shot doesn't quite have the legs though and Ireland are back on top.

Orla Prendergast should have bowled her four overs out straight at the start of the innings.

  11. NZ 48-3published at 8 overs

There are some happier campers now in the New Zealand dugout as the camera pans to a grinning Suzie Bates.

Lara McBride is introduced and the spinner concedes five singles. Tidy over.

    WinViz is tightening again...

  13. NZ 43-3published at 7 overs

A high full toss from leg-spinner Cara Murray and Melie Kerr's eyes light up long before the ball reaches the bat. Swatted over square-leg for four.

Ireland aren't making the New Zealand batters work hard enough for their runs at the moment. It is really frustrating to watch.

  15. NZ 35-3published at 6.1 overs

We saw yesterday with Scotland v West Indies how quickly the momentum can shift.

After a quick drinks break, Brooke Halliday picks up where here skipper left off, with a boundary off the spin of Cara Murray courtesy of a poor misfield at point.

The brave shot off the fourth ball brought about the bad ball from the fifth. It was a pretty lazy attempt in the field too.

Bringing Arlene Kelly on for that over was a defensive move from Ireland and I'm disappointed by that. She is a fine bowler but more in the middle and death overs.

I am really disappointed that Orla Prendergast didn't bowl more than two overs in the powerplay.

  17. NZ 31-3published at 6 overs

Arlene Kelly is introduced. Would it have been worth giving Orla Prendergast one more? Maybe.

Kelly begins well with three dot balls before Melie Kerr plays a delightful ramp for four.

Make that back-to-back boundaries. Too wide from Kelly as she tries to adjust her line and Kerr cuts through the covers for four.

    Ten from the over.

  18. NZ 21-3published at 5 overs

    Halliday 1, Kerr 11

Aimee Maguire - blocking out the Southampton sun with some pretty snazzy shades - offers up a freebie as Melie Kerr slaps a full toss into the off side for four.

New Zealand do look scrambled, they really do.

They wouldn't have expected to los their opening two games and this game might potentially be the last game they would have wanted next.

They may have wanted England and to be underdogs.

  20. NZ 14-3published at 4 overs

Oh how New Zealand could do with Sophie Devine - who started vomiting when she arrived to the ground and was ruled out - right now.

Brooke Halliday is the new batter in and is off the mark but another terrific over by Orla Prendergast.
