Rosemary Mair is back into the attack. Two singles to begin the over and then the seamer messes up her line and Prendergast gives it the treatment it deserves by pulling for four.

Nensi Patel may have over-thought that moving the fielders around and in the end she's fed Gaby Lewis' strength.

  4. Ire 57-1published at 10 overs

    Target 141

Nensi Patel shakes her head after sending it down leg side and Gaby Lewis guides it down to the fine-leg boundary.

This fifty partnership is up. Orla Prendergast and Gaby Lewis have scored 51 off 49 balls.

  5. Ire 50-1published at 9 overs

Ireland need 99 from 66 balls. Is the shock still on? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  6. Not outpublished at 8.5 overs

    Ire 50-1

My bad. It actually clipped the front pad first and it was going down leg. Very good call by the umpire.

    Ire 50-1

Gaby Lewis is struck on the back leg. Given not out by the on-field umpire but Melie Kerr reviews.

New Zealand had 48 on the board after eight overs, so Ireland are pretty much level pegging.

The White Ferns had lost three wickets though so that's a big difference.

That is a frustrating end to Bree Illing's spell but she has bowled really well.

  10. Ire 46-1published at 8 overs

Just as the runs start drying up a little, Orla Prendergast pulls a short delivery for four.

Ireland will need to really kick on at some point soon.

Bree Illing finishes with figures of 1-18 off four overs. She's bowled well.

These two have done a really good job of consolidating - I know that isn't a word we use too often in T20s - but they have done that.

  12. Ire 40-1published at 7 overs

The players are rehydrated and Melie Kerr brings herself on.

Orla Prendergast and Gaby Lewis have done well since that early wicket and seem happy enough to just keep things simple and ticking along. Five from the over.

New Zealand will be quite happy with this drinks break to break up the momentum that Ireland have.

That was an unbelievable effort. It is tough because she's saved a boundary and it would have been special.

  16. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 5.2 overs

    Ire 32-1

Technically, this is a dropped catch. But it would have been something spectacular.

Orla Prendergast cuts towards point and Nensi Patel - not the tallest of players - launches herself in the air but can only get a hand on it. She stopped the four, mind you.

That is a lovely shot. She gave herself room to allow her to use her hands and that allowed her to go over the inner ring.

  19. Ire 30-1published at 5 overs

    Target 141

Time for spin as Nensi Patel is brought into the attack.

Oh that's nice from Gaby Lewis who guides it through point for four.

And another boundary as Orla Prendergast uses her feet to swipe it up and over the off-side fielders for four.

Orla Prendergast used her feet well there and put momentum into the shot. It's a beautiful shot.
