David Miller has plenty of experience of these conditions having played for the likes of Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.
And South Africa will need all of that experience from the batter today.
He gets going with an outside edge off leg-spinner Varun Chakaravarthy that runs away for four behind the stumps before he plants one over mid-off for back-to-back boundaries.

We knew the slower balls were having a bit impact here in Ahmedabad but Ryan Rickelton has done a lot of work to adapt to the number three role. I don't know that he could have done much different once he got that leading edge.
This is massive for South Africa. They do bat deep, they've got a long batting line-up to come.

Jasprit Bumrah continues to put pressure on South Africa and it pays off.
He bowls four dots in the first five deliveries before he gets Ryan Rickelton with the slower ball.
A leading edge allows Shivam Dube to gobble up at mid-off as Rickelton walks back in a state of disbelief.
Ryan Rickelton swivels to send Arshdeep Singh's final delivery for the first six of the game over long leg.
Rickelton now has Dewald Brevis for company out there.

Image source, ReutersIt's such a disappointing end for Aiden Markram because he's been in phenomenal form in the first three group games and looked to lead South Africa at the top of the order. I think he'll be bitterly disappointed.
It now exposes a middle order who haven't had much time in the middle.

This is an interesting phase, South Africa are very reliant on de Kock, they need him from an opening batting perspective and as someone to calm the nerves.

Quinton de Kock goes for a wild slash across the line and turns around to find his leg stump missing.
Jasprit Bumrah has an early breakthrough and South Africa are rocked right at the start of this contest.
Huge cheer from the Ahmedabad crowd as Rinku Singh does some good work near the boundary to deny three runs.
But Quinton de Kock then dispatches a full toss from Jasprit Bumrah for four through extra cover.
Arshdeep Singh begins with a very tidy over for India.
He strikes South Africa opener Quinton de Kock on the pads with an in-swinging final delivery and there is a shout for an lbw but the umpire signals leg byes.
It's a repeat of the 2024 T20 World Cup final that was won by India by seven runs.
But will South Africa avenge that defeat in Ahmedabad today?
Aiden Markram is off the mark with a single from left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh's first ball.
South Africa duo Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock have delivered some rapid starts for their side in this T20 World Cup.
And they’ll hope to set the tone once again early today as they walk out to open the innings for the Proteas.
