George Munsey especially has got off to a flyer and Michael Jones is playing second fiddle.

Grant Stewart would not look out of place in a film noir classic.

George Munsey shows a willingness to throw the bat whipping the Kent seamer behind square then a streaky edge flies down through the vacant third region.

Munsey skies the final ball of Stewart's over, but Anthony Mosca cannot cling in on to the catch in the ring.

This is good from Ali Hasan - he's giving George Munsey no width to work with.

Well, Robert. Officially, Emilio Gay is absent with a hamstring injury picked up while on duty for England Lions.

Ali Hasan much tighter as the left-arm seamer bowls in a fourth/fifth stump line.

    Four singles off the over.

Is there any reason why Emilio Gay isn't playing? It's not like England Lions disqualifies you from other countries - he played for the Lions against India last summer and then played for Italy in the qualifiers a month later.

  6. Sco 34-0published at 4 overs

George Munsey has taken a shine to Thomas Draca, and picks three consecutive fours off the Italy seamer - hammering him back down the ground before a hearty thwack through the covers.

    Impressive start by Scotland.

I think that's a shoulder dislocation - I wouldn't be surprised if that's the end of his tournament. I'd love to be wrong but that looked awful straight away.

Thomas Draca, Exeter university alma mater who once made the long list for the IPL auction, with Italy's third over.

George Munsey pulls his third ball for four and Italy skipper Wayne Madsen does some damage to his shoulder with an attempted diving stop.

Madsen leaves the field in agony. That looks like a dislocation.

  9. Sco 19-0published at 3 overs

Ali Hasan, who is finding a bit of swing, strings together three dots.

A single apiece for George Munsey and Michael Jones.

Eden Gardens is a far cry from the venue for the last meeting of these sides.

Italy earned a shock 12-run victory at the very picturesque Voorburg Cricket Club for the T20 World Cup qualifier in the Netherlands.

With a nice view of a local church and horses watching on from the adjacent paddock, it was a superb advert for associate cricket.

I was there as a punter, trying - and failing - to avoid sunburn, while also watching Scotland's World Cup hopes go up in flames - or so they thought.

Both XIs look very different to that day, but Italy will fancy a repeat result on their World Cup debut.

  11. Sco 17-0published at 2 overs

Kent's Grant Stewart, who got married in in Puglia close to where his grandparents grew up last summer, with the second over for Italy.

Michael Jones gets off the mark with a prod to mid-on.

George Munsey thumps Stewart's final ball of the over back over his head for four.

That's a decent over - Scotland will be happy with that.

  13. Sco 10-0published at 1 overs

George Munsey with a couple of boundaries in the first over - albeit not exactly convincingly. A slightly iffy cut and a leading edge.

Italy's qualification journey for this tournament started when the last T20 World Cup was on. They were playing the likes of France and the Isle of Man.

Left-arm seamer Ali Hasan has the ball in hand for Italy.

Scotland skipper Richie Berrington: "We're fairly happy to bat first. Looks a really good surface and we saw the other day in our opening game you get value for your shots so hopefully we can bat well in that first innings and put a big score on the board.

"There were a lot of positives to take out the West Indies game and we were close to getting a good result from that game. Obviously there's a few things we can improve on. Italy are a good team and we are expecting a really good contest. The focus for us is what we can do well."
