  1. Ind 30-0published at 5 overs

Four dot balls from Jofra Archer before Shubman Gill punches him through mid-on for four.

He follows that up with another cut to the point boundary, his fourth four of the innings.

Mahmood has never looked comfortable at international level. I don't understand the obsession with recycling the same players. Our talent pool must be thin indeed.

The day after England played Croatia in 2018, there was a ODI between these two at Trent Bridge.

India are 100% on the day after England have lost a World Cup semi-final.

The England bowlers will have to look for that back of the length delivery. There is a little bit of life in this green pitch though.

  5. Ind 22-0published at 4 overs

One further single in the over for Shubman Gill, cutting down to third.

England have burned one. Shubman Gill has absolutely smashed that.

  7. Not outpublished at 3.4 overs

    Ind 21-0

Yeah, not much in that one.

It's a pretty thick inside edge onto the pads for one and I think if we'd sign ball-tracking it would have been going down leg too.

    England lose a review.

    That's close.

  9. England reviewpublished at 3.4 overs

    Four... and out?

Shubman Gill powers Saqib Mahmood through the covers but is struck on the pads from the following delivery, trying to the turn the ball into the leg side.

After some debate about whether it was bat or pad, Harry Brook asks for a review.

That's a poor drop. Atkinson got to the ball and it went through his hands, an area that Rohit gets out quite a bit. He did have a lot of ground to cover.

    A let-off for Rohit.

Not a great shot from Rohit Sharma. Done him on the pace there, it jagged back a bit. Atkinson made great ground, did all the hard work but couldn't lay a paw on it.

    Put down!

Rohit Sharma should be heading back to the pavilion after clipping Jofra Archer's last delivery aerially out to backward square.

Gus Atkinson is running to his left, doesn't quite look in control and lets the ball spill through his hands.

To make matters worse, it then rolls onto the ropes for four.

Saqib Mahmood is skillful. He changes the pace and hits that seam, makes it goes both ways which just keeps you guessing as a batter.

  14. Ind 11-0published at 2 overs

Saqib Mahmood to bowl from the other end, and Shubman Gill whips the seamer's second ball through mid-wicket for the day's first four.

Rohit Sharma almost adds a boundary of his own, but Harry Brook does good work with a chase and dive over the ropes, tipping the ball back to stop four down the ground.

Rohit Sharma doesn't strike me as the type of chap to feel pressure.

He's been there and done everything.

Quick one early on… are we going to regret not having Dawson after the last match?

    Thomas, Leeds

Dawson dropped after top-scoring and only given two overs - which were the least expensive. Clueless.

    Gavin in Winchester

Dawson dropped after holding the batting together in the last game, and not released for Hampshire last night. Diabolical.

  18. Ind 3-0published at 1 over

Rohit Sharma gets India going straight away, edging Jofra Archer to third for a single.

Shubman Gill gets his own innings started with a cut to the same region, with one further wide conceded by Archer in the opening over.

Although Archer's numbers didn't look good from last game, he looked dangerous.

England have enough bowlers, they just don't have enough batters.
