England's pacers have been significantly more economical going into the pitch today as opposed to pitching it up.

    • Shorter than 6 metres - 37 off 66 - 3.36 economy

England have bowled a better line. They were a little bit licorice all sorts before, a little bit wayward.

England have got a hold of India.

  5. Ind 120-3published at 23 overs

Sam Curran continues to keep it quiet, conceding just a couple of singles off his fourth over.

Shreyas Iyer edges out towards point, but the ball drops a little short of the fielder.

People say that the lofted extra cover drive is one of the hardest shots. It looks very natural coming from Shreyas Iyer though, he just has that extra arc.

  7. Ind 118-3published at 22 overs

Adil Rashid replaces Will Jacks and Shreyas Iyer absolutely powers his second ball through the covers for four.

Iyer was run out for 35 at Edgbaston on Tuesday, having endured a desperate T20 series as India's skipper in that format.

I think Will Jacks has come on and played a really good hand.

England are having a good spell here, they've just dried up those loose deliveries, there was too many at the start. They've worked on it and come back into it.

  9. Ind 111-3published at 21 overs

After taking his time getting to the middle, Shreyas Iyer drives his first ball straight at Virat Kohli.

The non-striker can't get out of the way - no run there, nor off the other two remaining balls in the over.

Sam Curran has figures of 1-2 off three overs.

Ishan Kishan has to drag himself away, Curran has played brilliantly.

Ishan Kishan went for it, it just got a bit high on him. He had a wristy swat on it but Sam Curran and Will Jacks have dragged it back a bit here.

    Kishan c & b Curran 1 (Ind 111-3)

    Another toe-ender!

Ishan Kishan tries to pull a short delivery from Sam Curran but the ball judders of the bottom of the bat and comes straight back to the bowler.

The left-armer is having a fantastic day so far.

A topic of discussion among many England fans today is the next Test head coach after Brendan McCullum's dismissal, with Glamorgan's Richard Dawson very much in the frame.

Shorter boundaries can lure batsmen and get into their minds. As a spinner, you can use that to your advantage.

  16. Ind 110-2published at 20 overs

Virat Kohli blocks a delivery from Will Jacks and the ball dribbles just past the stumps.

The India batter is angry with himself for that, punching his bat.

I wonder if we'll see Curran back in the Test side against Pakistan. There's a big Stokes-sized hole in that all-rounder position...

  18. Ind 105-2published at 19 overs

Only one run for Sam Curran's second over too, a single down to third for Virat Kohli.

  19. Ind 104-2published at 18 overs

Ishan Kishan is the new batter, and he fends away the final delivery of the over.

The India wicketkeeper is back in the side after illness and is batting a bit higher than KL Rahul, his replacement on Tuesday who came in at six.

That's a very soft dismissal of Rohit Sharma. Well done to Jacks, just oddly came around the wicket, even though he wasn't getting smashed around. It went bobbling up into the air - Buttler just had to walk around to take that one.

Invaluable wicket. Rohit played one or two lovely shots but he's not quite found his mojo yet on this tour.
