They did bring the full covers out though, so it'll take a little longer to get them all cleared up.

Chris: You always want to chase at The Oval - fast scoring and the ball comes on nicely especially under the lights, I cannot fathom NZ decision to bat first. If you are going to bat first, you must score 200 or over to have a chance.

  7. rain stops play

    Sigh.

Hopefully it won't be too long a delay. England are comfortably ahead of DLS, regardless.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge's terrific form in this T20 World Cup continues. She's now scored 218 runs in five innings, the leading run-scorer in the tournament. With this innings and semi-final and possibly the final yet to go, Wyatt-Hodge is in a great position to go past the record of Beth Mooney's 259 runs in 2020, the most runs by a batter in a single edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

I wonder if it is the rain that is making Melie Kerr struggle to grip the ball.

Another horrible loopy delivery is struck to the boundary by Dunkley.

It's proper rain now. I'm surprised they haven't gone off. There's a rainbow above the pavilion.

  11. Eng 61-1published at 6.1 overs

Melie Kerr needs to drag back some control so she turns to herself.

Unfortunately, the first ball is wide and loopy and Sophia Dunkley whacks it down the ground for four.

I don't understand this tactic from New Zealand. Danni Wyatt-Hodge will feast on anything short.

  16. Eng 57-1published at 6 overs

Eeek, that is not a good opening over from Sophie Devine.

She bowls short and wide, and Dunkley and Wyatt-Hodge help themselves to a boundary each.

Dunkley then sweeps the last ball just past short fine leg for another, which concludes a productive powerplay for England.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge cleared her front leg to go leg side and realised it had been speared in wide so she adjusted and gave it momentum to the boundary.

    Not quite.

More lovely timing from Wyatt-Hodge, this time guiding the ball between point and short third for another boundary.

But Tahuhu closes the over well with a yorker to Sophia Dunkley, who just manages to dig it out.

Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates made an impact with their bat in what is potentially their final New Zealand appearance.

Can Lea Tahuhu do the same with the ball?

Amy Jones would have liked to kick on but she's put England in a strong position alongside Danni Wyatt-Hodge.
