I think Eccers' best figures of 6/36 might be in danger here!

Need 129 runs from 108 balls

Nilakshi de Silva gets her first boundary by taking on a short ball from Lauren Bell. That one was neither one thing nor the other from Bell, not really short enough to test Nilakshi.

The umpires call on drinks at the end of the over. The runs/balls equation doesn't sound impossible for Sri Lanka but it just feels unlikely.

  3. SL 120-5published at 31 overs

Need 134 more runs to win

Every run Sri Lanka manage off Sophie Ecclestone feels like an achievement.

Not quite water being turned into wine but somewhere close. Just one run comes in this over - a sweep shot by Anushka Sanjeewani.

Sophie Ecclestone has drawn a false shot with 28% of her deliveries today, amongst the highest figure for any match of her career.

  5. SL 118-5published at 30 overs

    Target 254

Sophie Ecclestone is stealing the limelight but Lauren Bell has bowled pretty well here for seven wicketless overs. She is finding bounce from a slow pitch and is bowling decent pace. One in this over hits the pad of Nilakshika Silva again but England wisely opt against a review. Too high.

It is a great delivery from Sophie Eccelstone, it pitches outside the off stump, it tempts Athapaththu on to the front foot to drive through the covers, it dips, it grips, and it bounces and clips the top of off stump.

    Athapaththu b Ecclestone 15 (SL 116-5)

    She's magic, you know...

Stunning, stunning bowling from Sophie Ecclestone. The matchups tell you left-arm spinners shouldn't bowl to left-handed batters. Forget it. She rags the ball back to go between bat and pad and hit the stumps.

Ecclestone has 4-5 in six overs. Sri Lanka's best batter is out.

  9. SL 115-4published at 28.2 overs

    Sophie Ecclestone is ragging it.

A miss and then an edge from Nilakshi de Silva. I'd put good money on her not lasting the over...

  10. Not outpublished at 16:34 BST 11 October 2025

Only umpire's call. Lauren Bell is a little unfortunate not to get the on-field decision. Nilakshi de Silva survives but has only one from 11 balls.

It's Nilakshi's back leg. It's straight enough. Too high?

Need 145 more from 138 balls

A maiden for Sophie Ecclestone who now has extraordinary figures of 3-4 from five overs.

  14. SL 108-4published at 26 overs

    Target 254

    Thanks Elizabeth.

It had looked edgy for a while but England are in the driving seat now even if, as I write that, Chamari Athapaththu times a four.

It all rests on the Sri Lanka skipper now.

  15. SL 103-4published at 25 overs

    Target 254

It's not looking good for Sri Lanka. Granted, the required rate is only around a run-a-ball but they've lost 3-8 against the excellent spin of Sophie Ecclestone.

To take this one through to its conclusion, here's Matt Henry.

Eccelstone is a hard bowler to sweep anyway because of the extra pace and bounce and the way she manipulates her speed through the air. That went straight through Kavisha Dilhari.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 24.5 overs

    Dilhari b Ecclestone 4 (SL 103-4)

Dare I say Kavisha Dilhari did not need to do that? She tries to sweep Sophie Ecclestone, completely misses it, and her stumps scatter in all directions.

Sri Lanka needed to be patient, not try and attack a bowler on fire.

Ecclestone has three wickets in four overs. She's flipping this game on its head.

  18. SL 101-3published at 24 overs

    Target 254

Chamari Athapaththu jogs the single which brings up Sri Lanka's 100.

  19. SL 98-3published at 23 overs

    Target 254

A little bit of a rebuilding effort required here from Sri Lanka, who've lost 2-3.

Back-to-back wicket maidens for Sophie Ecclestone. The required rate is creeping up towards a run-a-ball.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 22.3 overs

    Samarawickrama c Bell b Ecclestone 33 (SL 98-3)

Sophie Ecclestone strikes again! Harshitha Samarawickrama's top edge is caught by a tumbling Lauren Bell.

Sri Lanka are in a little bit of bother here, so out walks Chamari Athapaththu, who will resume on seven (20) after retiring hurt in the sixth over.
