    Haseeb Hameed gone. Now then.

Two in two overs for Somerset as Jack Leach gets one to skid past the skipper's bat and hit him in front as he comes forward in defence.

    Northants 258 & 161-7 v Lancs 384 & 194

George Balderson nearly makes the breakthrough as George Bartlett clips it only just over the despairing dive of Tom Bailey at midwicket who tips it over the bar.

That was very close to being the moment which could have tipped this Lancs way. As it is Bartlett survives and moves to 62.

Luke Wells is doing his best to catch the eye of captain Jimmy Andrerson as Lancs look to prise these two (Bartlett and Lewis McManus) apart.

That might not be the worst idea with 11 overs to the second new ball.

That's a nice shot by James Wharton, punched down the ground through mid-on for his first boundary. The over costs Mason Crane eight runs in total. Yorkshire need 160 from 31 overs.

Ben Slater is on his way for a solid 60.

He doesn't get all of this pull shot off a short one from Alfie Ogborne and Tom Kohler-Cadmore takes a fine catch, tumbling to his left at backward square leg.

Wil it affect the outcome? Probably not. But Somerset have a little more spring in their step.

Freddie McCann is the new man, joining Haseeb Hameed.

Kent 111-3 - need 357 to win at Durham

62 balls, 10 fours, some of them absolutely glorious.

Tawanda Muyeye has ridden his luck early on and come through it to make his first half-century of the year with a couple off Matty Potts.

He may also have helped his side avoid a real collapse on the final day of this game.

What a crazy declaration by Carlson after the team worked so hard over the last three days. Pitch in Cardiff always flat on final day.

    Warwickshire 544 v Surrey 328 & 390-4

We're in the final throes of this game. Dan Lawrence's batting is something to be admired and enjoyed. But the match is hardly edge of the seat stuff.

Surrey will probably get Warwickshire in at some point and hope a few early wickets might put the home side under pressure.

But the likelihood remains we'll have the captains agree a draw as soon as they're allowed to.

    Another one? No.

James Wharton swipes at a ball from Mason Crane wide of off stump and Glamorgan claim a catch by the keeper.

    Not out, says the umpire.

The next ball keeps really low but fortunately for Wharton is not directed at the stumps.

Notts 86-0 - need 417 to win at Somerset

Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed are back out in the sunshine, though for how long remains to be seen.

There was plenty of jeopardy in the air in the opening 10 minutes of this innings but that has long since drifted away on the breeze.

    Derbyshire 625-8 v Worcestershire 312 & 215-6

The final session of the match. Can Worcestershire hold on? It's a tall order with 35 overs to go.

Derbyshire have struck early in each of the first two sessions of the day. They'll be hoping to do so again.

Tawanda Muyeye has picked up where he left-off before tea, clubbing the first ball of the evening session over mid-wicket for a boundary off Kemar Roach.

He misses out on another from a full-toss from the following delivery, however.

He is on 45* from 54 balls - 40 of them via the ropes.

If Yorkshire manage to win this, I'll be delighted but surprised... if Yorkshire manage to lose this I'll be spitting feathers. 9 wickets in a session, surely that can't happen? I'm backing a draw all the way. Well played Glammy and see you in God's Own Country later this year.

That afternoon session has arguably vindicated Somerset's timing of their declaration so as not to give Notts a sniff.

The pitch has offered Somerset's bowlers - Jack Leach included - the square root of zero as Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater have accumulated blithely in the sunshine.

The teams will be shaking hands at around 5 o'clock, 13 points apiece.

  16. Robinson delighted by 'clinical' Sussexpublished at 15:51 BST 6 April

    Leicestershire 245 & 258 v Sussex 361 & 364

    Ollie RobinsonImage source, Shutterstock

Sussex captain Ollie Robinson praised his team for a "pretty clinical performance" after they beat Leicestershire by 222 runs at Grace Road earlier this afternoon.

"There wasn't really any member of the team that didn't do something in the game, and I think that shows that the team's in a great place," the England seam bowler said afterwards.

"Tom Clark and Henry Crocombe were unbelievable for us. It was nipping quite a lot the first day, and we kind of thought that 250 was probably par. The openers got us off to a flyer and for Clarkey to follow that up with 100 was sublime.

“Then Henry came and did what he does, I suppose. We know that he's got high pace, and I think over this winter he's been learning a bit more about his skill and his control. And I think there's a lot more to come from him.

“And then we had a really important partnership with Tom Price and Jack Carson. We were at probably a point there where it could have given Leicestershire a bit of momentum, but they just well and truly put it to bed and put the chase out of reach.

“Myself, I felt in the first innings that I bowled really nicely and picked up some vital wickets at key times. I really enjoyed being captain and part of that was sort of figuring out how I use myself.

"The only reason I didn’t bowl today was that I had a plan in my head about who to use when and I was going to bring myself on with the new ball, which of course we didn’t need in the end."

  17. Tea at Wantage Roadpublished at 15:48 BST 6 April

    Northants 258 & 144-7 v Lancs 384 & 194

A frustrating session for the Red Rose which has finished with George Bartlett unbeaten on 56 and Lewis McManus on 9. The momentum since lunch has been with Northants.

Five wickets fell in the first session but Northants have dug in against the old ball claiming that one with 81 runs added for the loss of James Sales.

George Bartlett batted well for his half century – a 15th of his first class career – and it could now be that Lancs just rattle through the 16 overs left with this old ball as quickly as possible.

You cannot see the tail lasting against Tom Bailey and Jimmy Anderson with a new ball but how quickly can they get there. An hour perhaps? That could make things tight if this pair stay together.

    Olly, Leeds

The catches Foakes makes, and the runs he stops are surely worth 10 runs an innings. He is also a point of difference in the England team with tenacious batting. Smith needs to be pickable with the bat alone to play for me.

Notts 86-0 - need 417 to win at Somerset

Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed have negotiated the session successfully, after withstanding a lot of early pressure from the Somerset seamers with the new ball.

Slater has 60* with his skipper playing a supporting role with 23*.

It looks like they have settled for a share of the spoils with the required rate drifting towards double-figures, but you know they'll be discussing it over cucumber sandwiches for the next 15 minutes.

Kent 100-3 - need 357 to win at Durham

Colin Ackermann was thrown the ball for an over of spin before tea.

He sends down a maiden and Kent have made it to the interval without further damage.

Durham need seven wickets to force a win and have been frustrated by this 59-run partnership between Tawanda Muyeye (41*) and Daniel Bell-Drummond (13*).

The visitors were in disarray at 41-3 in the 13th over of a 66 over-chase but the ship appears to have steadied for now.

In theory Kent need 6.7 an over from here to win it, but that feels a very long way away.
