  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.5 overs

    Asalanka b Abrar 25 (SL 75-3)

Abrar Ahmed breaks the partnership! He got the ball to turn and it crashes into the stumps.

Charith Asalanka departs for 25 (18). He was down on one knee, trying to sweep, and got nowhere near it.

    Messy, messy, messy.

The dropped catch/missed run-out is followed by a boundary through square leg from the bat of Pavan Rathnayake.

Next ball, there's another run-out opportunity but Charith Asalanka dives to safety.

  3. dropped catch

Dropped catch - Asalanka on 24published at 8.2 overs

A tough chance but it's a drop! Khawaja Nafay, diving to his right, can't cling on to Charith Asalanka's sliced shot to the covers.

He pings the ball into the non-striker's end but bowler Abrar Ahmed is not in position to whip off the bails.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha is furious.

  4. SL 69-2published at 8 overs

    Target 213

Usman Tariq does well to pull the over back - 10 runs from his opening three deliveries, three singles off the next three - but it's expensive.

Pakistan need a wicket. They need to break this partnership.

They are not out of this tournament yet, but they'll know from the first innings that a wicket can bring others but a partnership can be difficult to break.

  6. 6 runs

    SL 66-2published at 7.3 overs

Usman Tariq is getting a bit of tap. A four followed by a skied six from Charith Asalanka.

    Tariq hangs his head.

  7. SL 56-2published at 7 overs

    Target 213

What a piece of fielding that is from Khawaja Nafay at deep mid-wicket! He saves a certain boundary with a goalkeeper-esque dive to his right, taking the ball on the bounce in mid-air.

    Seven from the over.

  8. SL 51-2published at 6.2 overs

A third wide, this one from Abrar Ahmed.

You would imagine Pakistan would bowl spinners now because the trend of this World Cup has been that spin has been hard to play.

  10. SL 49-2published at 6 overs

    Target 213

Pavan Rathnayake pings a one-bounce four between mid-wicket and mid-on and sneaks through for a single off the next ball following a misfield. Cover your eyes, Pakistan fans.

The over finishes with a huge six from Charith Asalanka. Seriously, cover your eyes.

At the end of the powerplay, Sri Lanka are 49-2 chasing 213. Pakistan were 64-0 at the same stage.

But that doesn't matter. What does matter is this - Pakistan have to restrict Sri Lanka to 147 or under to reach the semi-finals.

You don't want Pakistan to get frantic or for the situation to get too much for them.

They are desperate to get wickets but the 147 is the key number for them.

  12. SL 37-2published at 5 overs

    Target 213

Sri Lanka should be three down!

Charith Asalanka set off for a needless single and Pavan Rathnayake should have been a goner. However, the throw into the striker's end was poor.

Still, it's a good over from Abrar Ahmed. Two leg byes, two singles and the important wicket of Kamil Mishara.

A lot of Pakistan fans have been mystified that Abrar Ahmed hasn't been playing.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.1 overs

    Mishara b Abrar 26 (SL 33-2)

    Immediate impact from Abrar Ahmed!

Tear down the statues. Abrar has bowled Kamil Mishara for 26 (15), the ball kissing his off-stump.

Sri Lanka are two down. Pakistan need to keep them to 147 or under.

  15. Postpublished at 15:55 GMT 28 February

Indeed it is! Here's the mystery spin of Abrar Ahmed.

  16. SL 33-1published at 4 overs

    Target 213

There's a wide and a boundary in Naseem Shah's second over but he also beats Kamil Mishara all ends up with a slower ball which bounces agonisingly over the stumps.

Eight from it. Pakistan are just looking a little bit flat at the moment.

    Time for spin?

Pakistan need to be very careful here. They don't want to persevere with bowlers that aren't in rhythm for too long considering all the options they've got.

  18. SL 28-1published at 3.2 overs

Eek. Another wide from Naseem Shah. That extras column could be the difference in the race for semi-final qualification.

    It's sandwiched between two singles.

That is a shot of class from Kamil Mishara. It wasn't a poor ball.

  20. SL 25-1published at 3 overs

    Target 213

Not the over Shaheen Shah Afridi or Pakistan wanted.

New Zealand, however, will be making preliminary sketches of a statue in tribute to Kamil Mishara.

Three boundaries (two fours and a six) and 15 runs from the over.
