Have your say on the Men's T20 World Cup

  1. SL 167-6published at 18 overs

    Target 213

Lovely yorker to finish the over from Shaheen Shah Afridi but he doesn't crack a smile.

12 balls to endure for Pakistan. Sri Lanka need 46 runs.

There's going to be no joy for Pakistan in these remaining balls.

  3. SL 167-6published at 17.5 overs

Sri Lanka's cheer returns as Dasun Shanaka edges Shaheen Shah Afridi for four.

That catch silences the crowd but there's zero celebration from any of the Pakistan players on the field.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.3 overs

    Rathnayake c sub b Shaheen 58 (SL 162-6)

Muted reaction from Pakistan as Pavan Rathnayake holes out to sub fielder Saim Ayub at long-on.

He departs for 58 (37) with plenty of applause from the Sri Lanka camp.

It will be disappointing for Pakistan. There was a little expectation and ambition for this team, but they have not managed to beat a full member nation in this World Cup so far.

It's going to be an agonising finish for Pakistan. They have just leaked a four ball every over.

  8. SL 161-5published at 17 overs

Need 52 runs from 18 balls

11 off the over but the required rate is up above 17.

Pavan Rathnayake has 58 (35) and Dasun Shanaka has 34 (18).

  9. dropped catch

Dropped catch - Rathnayake on 55published at 16.3 overs

    SL 159-5

It would have been a brilliant take from Fakhar Zaman, trying to take a flying catch over his shoulder, but that just about sums up Pakistan's afternoon.

Pavan Rathnayake comes through for two.

  10. SL 156-5published at 16.1 overs

Well, Dasun Shanaka is certainly up for this. He welcomes Naseem Shah back into the attack with a six.

This is the worse bit for Pakistan now. They've just been knocked out of the World Cup but they've still got four more overs to play.

  12. SL 150-5published at 16 overs

    Target 213

Pakistan have a miserable four overs to bowl. Sri Lanka need 63 runs in 24 balls.

We saw England win with three balls to spare after being faced with 43 off 18 against New Zealand.

    Another miraculous win?

  13. SL 148-5published at 15.5 overs

Dasun Shanaka takes the single. Pakistan are out. New Zealand are through to the T20 World Cup semi-finals.

Wild in Wellington, amazed in Auckland, cock-a-hoop in Christchurch.

  14. SL 147-5published at 15.4 overs

Three consecutive twos. Sri Lanka have 147. Uh oh.

  15. 6 runs

    SL 141-5published at 15.1 overs

Huuuuuge from Dasun Shanaka! A third six in four balls for Sri Lanka.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Rathnayakepublished at 15 overs

    SL 135-5

Another six for Sri Lanka! Another hammer blow to Pakistan's semi-final hopes! Sri Lanka only need another 13 runs to send New Zealand through.

That shot also brings up the half-century for Pavan Rathnayake off 32 balls. Lovely batting.

  17. 6 runs

    SL 129-5published at 14.4 overs

    Identical to the previous over.

Three singles followed by a big six. This time it's Pavan Rathnayake who strikes the monster blow, down on one knee to ping Shadab Khan over square leg.

Pakistan had themselves in such a strong position with the bat, but they would have taken 212 at the start of the day. That is everything they would have wanted.

They were 176-0 but ended 212-8.

  19. SL 120-5published at 14 overs

    Target 213

14 runs off the over, finished with a four through cover from Pavan Rathnayake. That could be curtains for Pakistan.

Sri Lanka need 28 runs off the final six overs to eliminate Pakistan and send New Zealand through to the last four.

    Pakistan desperately need wickets.

It is a great pick-up. It is one of the best shots of the day for me because that ball is probably only just going over the top of the stumps.
