An obvious pick, but The Art Of Captaincy by Mike Brearley. So many lessons in leadership applicable well beyond the cricket field.

    Rachel, Leeds

The Badminton Library's Book of Cricket (1888), which you can find online since it's out of copyright, is a Victorian gem. CLR James called it 'beautifully written and to this day as entertaining and instructive as anything that has ever been published on the game.'

    Sam, Edinburgh

Another Bloody Tour by Frances Edmunds - telling the story of how England faced the West Indies away in 1986 and got the bruises to prove it. A story of brutal unrelenting fast bowling & batsmen trying to survive. Not for the squeamish.

    Steve, Kent

Why does Reading get its own National Year? What about other towns on the M4?

    Pete, Great Missenden

The crowd are considerably more revved up now as Ben Stokes runs in.

I have got one thing right so far in this Test match, is that the wicket of Rachin Ravindra accelerated the game. This is a brilliant spell by Jofra Archer in this second innings.

For non-fiction cricket writing, Wisden each year has no equal. We’re on the 163rd edition, and it keeps getting better. I couldn’t do without my little yellow Bible each spring.

England will be pleased to see the back of Mitchell Santner because he is that kind of player.

Ben Stokes might need to get the wax syringed from his ears.

Jamie Smith, standing back, took it and played his part by persuading Stokes to review that one.

England think Mitchell Santner has possibly nicked Ben Stokes into the gloves of Jamie Smith.

He did well to catch that.

I wasn't totally convinced but then he managed to balance himself.

Short. Hooked. Caught at deep square.

It's a short-pitched delivery from Jofra Archer and Tom Blundell decides to take it on but his execution is a bit top-edgey.

I've loved watching Daryl Mitchell bat because it's been such a challenge for him. He'll be battered and bruised when he gets back to the hotel.

  19. NZ 196-4published at 66 overs

Ben Stokes is bowling wide of the crease, angling it into Daryl Mitchell.

A big appeal from Stokes after his fifth ball nips back into Mitchell and hits him on the top of the pad.

It's an appeal laced with desperation, if we're honest. Way too high.
