    Somerset 526-8d v Sussex 253 & 113-7 f/o

Two slips in and straight away we have an appeal for LBW as John Simpson is struck on the pad by a quicker ball than he expected.

Not out. Simpson gets off strike with a single to leg.

Apparently the floodlights failed earlier due to overheating and had to be switched off to cool down. So there we are.

An electrician had been called but couldn't attend till Wednesday.

Jack Leach to bowl the next over.

  2. Final session starts at Tauntonpublished at 16:15 BST 18 May

    Somerset 526-8d v Sussex 253 & 111-7 f/o

The poor weather has relented for now.

A minimum of 33 overs remain.

Three overs lost after that little rain delay.

John Simpson and Jack Carson are back in the middle.

Simpson to face Jordan Hermann's lesser-spotted off breaks first up.

  3. Play to resume at 1615 BST at Tauntonpublished at 16:12 BST 18 May

    Somerset 526-8d v Sussex 253 & 111-7 f/o

Not as bad as Somerset may have feared at tea when the heavens appeared to have opened.

Sussex still have some work to do to earn a draw.

  4. Postpublished at 16:08 BST 18 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 412-9

    Keith Dudgeon returns for Kent.

This time, however, he's going to try some spin.

Ben Raine tries to cut and edges past the keeper for four to progress to 90 not out.

Zak Crawley is going to bowl now.

  5. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 16:07 BST 18 May

    Lancs v Worcs 166-5 - lead by 155

A couple for Matthew Waite and that brings up the 50 partnership between him and Brett D'Oliveria.

  6. Evening session begins in Southamptonpublished at 16:07 BST 18 May

    Hampshire 176-6 & 214 v Notts 229

We have resumed at the Utilita Bowl, where Liam Patterson-White's opening over has been respectfully straight-batted by Jake Lehmann, who has three figures in sight on 89.

  7. Postpublished at 16:04 BST 18 May

    Lancs v Worcs 159-5 - lead by 148

With the very first ball after tea, Tom Bailey comes racing in and this is a very good delivery.

Brett D'Oliveira manages to get an inside edge otherwise he would have been trapped plumb LBW.

  8. Postpublished at 16:03 BST 18 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 401-9

A couple of runs for Callum Parkinson off Tawanda Muyeye to square leg secures a fourth batting bonus point for Durham - and they still have 10 overs left to find another 49 runs to complete the set.

Parkinson is now 40 not out and will have his sights on what would be only a second first-class 50.

  9. Edgbaston updatepublished at 16:03 BST 18 May

Warwickshire 100-2 v Glamorgan (Warwickshire require 268 more runs to win)

It has just been confirmed that play will continue at 4:40pm at Edgbaston - and there shall be 28 overs left in the day.

  10. Evening session under way at Southportpublished at 16:02 BST 18 May

    Lancs v Worcs 159-5 - lead by 148 runs

We are under way for the final session of the match at Southport.

    The weather remains bright.

  11. Raining at Tauntonpublished at 16:00 BST 18 May

    Somerset 526-8d v Sussex 253 & 111-7 f/o

We've been lucky here today, given the forecast.

But the drizzle we had shortly before tea has escalated to rain since the interval began.

We'll keep you posted on this one.

  12. Postpublished at 15:56 BST 18 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 391-9

Tawanda Muyeye is too full - and wide - and Ben Raine cover drives for four.

That is a 100 partnership for Durham's last wicket.

Superb effort by Messrs Raine and Parkinson.

  13. Sussex slump against 'relentless' Somersetpublished at 15:54 BST 18 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 253 & 111-7

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

Provided the weather holds Somerset look on course for a third win of the season after dominating the afternoon session.

Sussex have lost five wickets and added just 46 runs in 30 overs as Somerset relentlessly dismantled the middle order.

Only Tom Clark with 34 off 95 balls, and John Simpson 12 not out from 59 balls, have shown the necessary defiance, and Sussex's main hope may be rain which seems to be circling Taunton.

However, that escape route would be unfair on Somerset who have dominated this game since ball one on Friday

Warwickshire 100-2 v Glamorgan (Warwickshire require 268 more runs to win)

It did not look at all likely after we were forced into an early tea break at Edgbaston but, although there has been a delay to play at the beginning of this evening session, there is movement on the pitch.

Warwickshire's ground-staff are slowly removing the covers, the blotter is out and work is beginning on mopping up the water which has collected during the downpour, which has since stopped.

The floodlights remain on but there is sunshine intermittently, too, and optimism we may see more play.

Either side would do remarkably well to win the match from here, it must be said - the Bears need 268 runs at almost a run a ball and Glammy require eight more wickets - but there are 46 overs left in the day.

    Kent 523 v Durham 382-9

Slog sweep from Ben Raine off Matt Parkinson and it clears the rope at deep mid-wicket. Does Raine fancy a hundred here? He's 71 not out.

  17. Postpublished at 15:47 BST 18 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 375-9

The rain has passed over at Beckenham and the final session is under way. Tawanda Muyeye has three balls to bowl to complete the over he began before tea - Callum Parkinson helps himself to a single.

  18. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 15:46 BST 18 May

    Hampshire 176-6 & 214 v Notts 229

That is the tea break at the Utilita Bowl.

Hampshire have proven particularly stubborn today, during the periods where the weather has permitted play, and they have limited Notts' prospects of victory over the course of the day.

Their lead is now 161, with Jake Lehmann playing a crucial knock of 89 not out, and only a single session of this match remaining.

  19. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:44 BST 18 May

    Somerset 526-8d v Sussex 253 & 111-7 f/o

Somerset need three more. Sussex need to bat out 37 overs - or less than that perhaps given the weather.

Four close fielders around the bat for Archie Vaughan, bowling to John Simpson, who nearly pushes a catch to Tom Lammonby on the off side.

    It hasn't carried. Single taken.

Jack Carson defends into the off side. Tea.

Sussex lose five wickets in the session and need a momentous rearguard, plus ideally a bit of help from the weather to get a draw.

A fine win at the home of cricket for Derbyshire, but is Bashir worth his place in the team as he is not making any impact in the second innings.

Gutsy roll of the dice by Anderson and Lancashire this morning, but once again our inability to capitalise on a promising position shows itself. Only two outcomes here - a draw (the likeliest) or Worcs put us in needing 150 and we implode...
