Saif Zaib comes out to join Calvin Harrison, who has 32 from 59 balls, but that is a serious blow to Northants' chances of winning this game.

There it is - victory for Essex by six wickets at the expense of rock bottom Leicestershire, which sends them to the top of the County Championship Division One table.

There was early frustration on the morning of this final day at Grace Road for Essex, but they have ultimately claimed the victory which was expected of them before the resumption of play.

Lewis Hill remained defiant for the entirety of the morning session, finishing on 127 having batted admirably with the tail and Leicestershire left their visitors 215 to get. If they could get early wickets, then perhaps they would fancy their chances.

Although they removed Dean Elgar, they could not dismiss Paul Walter (110), who played a match-winning knock, supported by Charlie Allison (36) and Matt Critchley (28 not out).

That is 23 points for Essex, who are now at the red-ball summit of an admittedly congested table.

After taking the key wicket of Barnard Matthew Revis will be disappointed he didn't make new batter Manav Suthar play at the next three.

  20. Team of the week: Bowlerspublished at 17:18 BST 15 June

    County Championship

    Matthew Potts bowlingImage source, Shutterstock

When a bowler takes eight wickets in an innings, how can they not make team of the week?

That is exactly what Matthew Potts did for Durham with 8-66 from 24.3 overs in Derbyshire's second innings to help his side to victory inside three days. He also took 2-37 in the first innings for 10 match wickets and contributed 36 with the bat.

Craig Overton muscled his way in with a match-winning 5-29 from 16.5 overs for Somerset in their win at Notts, in which Overton took seven wickets in the match.

Every side needs a spinner and we've gone with Zafar Gohar, who has taken 6-31 to help Middlesex beat Worcestershire. He took seven wickets in the match after 1-55 in the first innings and also hit a handy 39* in Middlesex's second innings.

Hasan Mahmud enjoyed a remarkable County Championship debut for Kent, taking 3-32 in Lancashire's first innings before a phenomenal 6-69 in the second to take the visitors over the line to a resounding 140-run victory at Stanley Park in Blackpool.
