    Notts 79-6 v Somerset - target 473

Jack Haynes is more than happy to leave every delivery outside the off stump from Alfie Ogborne and who can blame him?

Nottinghamshire still need to try and bat for at least another 83 overs with only four wickets in hand if they are to get anything from this game.

  2. 50 runs

50 partnership Roderick & Allisonpublished at 11:57 BST 15 June

    Worcs 265 & 82-2 v Middx 339 & 283-6 dec

Ben Allison has edged to the slip cordon three times. Once he was dropped and twice the ball didn't quite carry.

So he's still there on 37 dominating a 50 partnership with Gareth Roderick.

    Leicestershire 362-8 & 187 v Essex 401

Another shout from Jamie Porter, another rejection from the umpire.

This time the seamer and Michael Pepper, who is up at the stumps, think Josh Davey might have feathered one into the keeper's gloves with his outside edge.

That has not done anything for Porter's mood, having also conceded four runs off Davey who edged to the third man boundary a couple of deliveries earlier.

Somerset with the youngest CC keeper-slip cordon ever? T Rew (18), Thomas (21), Vaughan (20), Ogborne (22)

    Chinnock, Bristol

Certainly looking good for the future for Somerset. Unless, of course, they're all dragged off to the England side, which seems quite likely in the coming years for at least a couple of those players.

    Notts 79-6 v Somerset - target 473

Nottinghamshire haven't lost a County Championship game since May 2025, which came away at Durham and was their only defeat last season on the way to the title.

Notts also haven't suffered a home defeat for almost two years, losing to Hampshire at Trent Bridge in May 2024.

That just tells you the size of this victory for Somerset if they can indeed get it over the line.

  6. Cold morning in Scarboroughpublished at 11:45 BST 15 June

    Warwickshire 263 & 79-3 v Yorkshire 469 & 246-6 dec

The spectators are well wrapped up on a fresh morning at North Marine Road.

But the locals among them will be happy with the way it's going for Yorkshire with the early dismissals of Alex Davies and Dan Mousley, both to George Hill.

Sam Hain, who scored a century against Yorkshire at Edgbaston earlier the season, is trying to steady the ship while night watcher Ethan Bamber continues to occupy the crease.

That was a dreaded pair for Nottinghamshire's Lyndon James.

And Craig Overton has been quietly going about his business very well as he picks up a wicket maiden.

He has 3-16 from nine overs here.

    What. A. Catch.

Lyndon James tries to block from Craig Overton but edges behind.

It's flying towards the first slip area but young Thomas Rew makes an almighty leap to his right to take a one-handed grab.

Somerset are wasting no time this morning in trying to see through an excellent victory.

    Worc 265 & 66-2 v Middx 339 & 283-6 dec

    Ben Allison is enjoying himself.

He normally bats at number ten but came in at the fall of the second wicket just before the close of day three.

He's hit Sebastian Morgan for successive boundaries as Worcestershire get their required runs below 300

A win for Yorkshire today would be a fitting tribute to Roy Hattersley who has died. He was a great supporter of Yorkshire. I often saw him at Lord's or The Oval when Yorkshire were playing.

    David, Lewisham

In an article on the 'What England Means To Me' website, Lord Hattersley once said he was proud of a country "that’s associated with Shakespeare, with Elgar, with cricket, and, above all, the landscape".

    Notts 75-5 v Somerset - target 473

Notts are still trying to play some shots despite the big hole they find themselves in here.

Jack Haynes plays a nice drive through extra cover for four off Jake Ball to add to the two he picked up the previous delivery.

The number of runs required drops below 400. It's now 398 to win. It would be an understatement to say that seems rather unlikely.

This one is out! Simon Harmer returns to the attack and with his fifth delivery of the morning he traps Scriven in front.

Josh Davey heads out to the crease. Leicestershire's lead is now 135.

  13. Postpublished at 11:36 BST 15 June

    Leicestershire 349-7 & 187 v Essex 401

Essex cannot believe that this lbw shout has not merited the raising of the umpire's finger.

Jamie Porter raps Lewis Hill on the pads. Height does not appear to be an issue. The umpire is unmoved.

The devastated reaction of Porter and keeper Michael Pepper - who heads down to the other end for the new over with his hands on his helmet - suggests they thought that was plumb.

  14. Worcestershire battlepublished at 11:34 BST 15 June

    Worcs 265 & 57-2 v Middx 339 & 283-6 dec

Worcestershire have seen off the first half hour.

Ben Allison survived a chance and is on 15 while Gareth Roderick is working hard reaching 18 off 62 balls.

Middlesex won't be too frustrated yet but they won't want this to go on much longer.

    Hameed c T Rew b Overton 25 (Notts 69-5 v Somerset - target 473)

    ANOTHER BIG WICKET!

Nottinghamshire skipper Haseeb Hameed tickles one down the legside from Craig Overton but Thomas Rew is alive to it behind the stumps and already moving to his left long before it gets to him.

Into the gloves it goes and Hameed is gone for 25.

Somerset are closing in on what would be a memorable victory against the defending champions, at Trent Bridge no less.

  16. Postpublished at 11:32 BST 15 June

    Notts 69-4 v Somerset - target 473

Haseeb Hameed takes full advantage of a half-volley from Craig Overton and crunches it straight back down the ground for four through the big gap at mid-off.

A very attacking field for Somerset at the moment with three slips and a leg slip in place.

Lovely shot from Jack Haynes as he pushes a front foot square drive to the rope for four from the final ball of the Jake Ball over.

Can someone tell me how Jake Ball is considered a 'like for like' for Lewis Gregory?

    Nigel, Derby

Fair question, Nigel. Perhaps Somerset will argue that Jake Ball did not bat and will bowl a similar amount of overs as Lewis Gregory, who opened the bowling in the first Notts innings before picking up a suspected hamstring injury.

  19. Postpublished at 11:30 BST 15 June

    Leicestershire 346-7 & 187 v Essex 401

Leicestershire have by and large negotiated this first half hour well. Lewis Hill has just survived what looked a decent appeal for LBW from the bowling of Charlie Bennett, which perhaps was missing leg.

They have added 20 runs to their overnight score and the lead now stands at 132.

    Mousley c Lyth b Hill 12 (Warwickshire 263 & 59-3 v Yorkshire 469 & 246-6 dec)

Strange innings from Dan Mousley under the circumstances.

He drives George Hill for three boundaries in a row and then edges another attempted drive to second slip where Adam Lyth holds on.

Hill has all three wickets so far.
