Jasprit Bumrah: wicket, dot, six, dot, dot, one.

The good news for England, I suppose, is he only has three overs left...

One over to go in the powerplay.

I've watched India at home plenty of times over recent years but it still gets me every time how quiet a crowd can fall when the opposition hit a boundary.

Jacob Bethell gets his innings up and running with a six, turning Jasprit Bumrah around the corner and over the rope. Quite dismissive.

Those catches are so difficult going back over your shoulder. You have nothing to judge the depth of the ball.

    Remarkable athleticism from Axar Patel.

    WHAT A CATCH!

Harry Brook, one-handed, skies the ball and Axar Patel has to chase back a mile from point before throwing himself full length towards the rope. I don't know how he's held onto that.

Ishan Kishan dives on top of him to start the celebrations.

Jasprit Bumrah strikes with his first ball. Brook is out for seven.

A welcome shot from Jos Buttler. He did not get all of it but the swing was gone so he could trust the line coming down at him.

A nice feeling for a batter.

Jos Buttler leans back and pings Hardik Pandya over mid-off to finish the fourth over with a six. That will boost his - and England's confidence - as will the 13 runs scored off the over.

    However, here comes Jasprit Bumrah.

The opening partnership was one of England's strengths coming into this tournament. They would have hoped the openers to come good in at least a couple of occasions.

But it just hasn't come off this tournament. It's really disappointing.

Harry Brook flashes his bat in front of his face like a lightsaber and dispatches Hardik Pandya over mid-wicket for four. The first boundary of the day for the England skipper.

England’s opening partnership has yielded just 12 runs on average in this competition - only Oman (10 runs) saw a lower opening average stand.

It's such a belter of a surface. Once the swing dissipates, you can then trust the line of the ball.

Jos Buttler is coming through that period where he is swinging and missing and he's now finding the middle of the bat better.

Hopefully this will be a bit like the Ashes and England will have a reset and get rid of those players who simply haven’t performed. Who takes their place? Someone who can get higher scores than 1, 2, 0 and 2 in four out of their last six innings.

Jos Buttler is doing his fair share of shadow batting and grimacing in between shots.

He manages to capitalise on an overpitched delivery for Arshdeep Singh early in the over to pick up a boundary down the ground but it's surrounded by ugly hoicks. Not a hint of bat on ball.

He finishes the over with a four through mid-off, finally finding a sweet bit of timing.

    10 off the over.

  17. Eng 15-1published at 2 overs

An excellent six deliveries from Hardik Pandya.

He's made the early breakthrough for India with the wicket of Phil Salt and twice nearly made it two wickets in the over.

His third delivery beat Jos Buttler's outside edge and the England wicketkeeper went for a big swing and miss off the penultimate ball. He's not found his rhythm.
