This game is not done yet and there is plenty to play for. This surface is really good and there is batting still to come.

Jacob Bethell is, at least, making this entertaining for England fans.

He bangs Hardik Pandya over mid-wicket for six and follows it up by flipping him behind for four. In a flash, he's up to 39 (14).

Will Jacks and Sam Curran had their helmets on at the start of the over but now they're off again. They have faith in this Bethell/Banton partnership.

We're ahead of India after the powerplay. Bethell, Banton, Curran & Jacks here's your time to be heroes.

    Leo, pretending to work

Leo, you're reading my mind. I've just glanced at my notebook and spotted that India were only 67-1 after six overs.

India’s seamers were far more controlled with their length in the powerplay, hitting the 6-8m zone with 44% of their balls, compared to England’s 24%.

They also found 1.5° of swing - three times as much as England.

  8. 17 year-old says Bethell's journey is an 'inspiration'published at 16:03 GMT 5 March

A young cricketer from Warwickshire County Cricket says Jacob Bethell’s rise from the club to the England team is inspirational.

Bethell became the youngest man to captain England in international cricket when he led the T20 side on a tour of Ireland last year at just 21.

Arjun Singh Nahal, who is part of the Warwickshire Academy, tells BBC Newsbeat he is “trying to aspire that same journey” as the 22-year-old.

“He's very wise and he's got a lot of maturity for his age, so I think that definitely helps when you're making a step up from like Warwickshire domestic cricket to that international level,” Nahal says.

The 17-year-old also feels if England wins the World Cup, it will motivate the next generation of players.

However, as British Indian the upcoming match between the two teams may cause some friction in his family, but he is backing England to take home the win.

“I think England just needs to be careful that they don't let India get off to a flyer and let too many boundaries leak into the power play because once India get going, they can be dangerous,” he says.

“But I think England's bowling depth and skills can definitely hinder that.”

Tom Banton finishes the powerplay with a one-bounce four but it's well and truly advantage India.

As if chasing 254 wasn't going to be hard enough, England have lost three wickets in the opening six overs. Here's a couple of them for you to review.

The only real joy has come from Jacob Bethell, who smacked Varun Chakravarthy for three consecutive sixes. He's on 26 (9) while Banton has 4 (1).

Think that wicket signals the end of a very good short format career. Take a bow Jos, but it's probably time to hang up the gloves.

Is that it for Buttler in an England shirt? Probably got a few years left round the franchises, but that might be it for him where it counts.

There is almost certainly going to have to be changes made from players and the management after this disastrous tournament. There are some things to build upon but I think Bazball has had its day.

Jos Buttler tries to inflict more misery on Varun Chakravarthy but he's through the shot far too early. Stumps rearranged. He's out for 25 (17).

A moment before that delivery, George, sat on our bank of desks, asked what Buttler's highest score of the tournament was. Blame him.

It is unfathomable how Jacob Bethell gets the power to hit that ball for six! Pure timing and such strong wrists.

Food for thought for Varun Chakravarthy.

Lost to West Indies. Not convincing against Italy and Nepal. Relying on Rehan Ahmed and Will Jacks against New Zealand. Opening 4 batters for England averaging 22/23.
