And with that, the Rew brothers reach a 50 partnership, with James unbeaten on 41 and Thomas 20*.

    Durham 377 v Derbyshire 118 & 171-4

Will Rhodes continues his pre-lunch spell following the interval.

Harry Came is 77 not out and Nick Potts has 40.

As we told you earlier - the new ball is not too far away.

  3. Afternoon session under way at Northamptonpublished at 13:46 BST 14 June

    Northants 465 v Gloucs 268 & 54-0 (f/o)

Harry Conway in for the first over after lunch as Cameron Bancroft takes guard.

The Australian continues to step down the wicket to the Northants strike bowler and drops a single into the offside to take him to 38.

The tactic shows its value as Joe Phillips hangs back in his crease and is beaten outside the off stump.

    Liam Guthrie resumes his work.

  4. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 13:45 BST 14 June

    Sussex 521 v Glamorgan 155 & 120-2

So having done so much good work this morning, Glamorgan now have to continue their survival fight with two new batsmen together.

Kiran Carlson is five not out and his post-lunch partner is Ben Kellaway, who will face the final delivery of the Jack Carson over interrupted by his dismissal of Asa Tribe.

    It's a dot ball.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:44 BST 14 June

    Whiteman c Malik b Suthar 4 (Yorkshire 469 & 32-2 v Warwickshire 263)

Warwickshire's India spinner Manav Suthar found some turn from his one over before lunch and he's struck quickly after the interval.

Sam Whiteman gets an inside edge onto his pads and the ball finds it's way to Zen Malik at short leg.

Warwickshire will be pleased but also concerned if they're going to face a turning pitch batting last.

  6. 150 runs

150 up for Somersetpublished at 13:44 BST 14 June

    Notts 193 v Somerset 310 & 150-4

Lyndon James bowls the first over after lunch for Notts and James Rew punches his third ball through the covers for two and that takes Somerset onto 150.

Leicestershire fought back impressively this morning before two wickets from Simon Harmer restored control for Essex.

Rishi Patel reminded visiting supporters of the talent he showed when progressing through the Essex youth teams before he joined Leicestershire in 2020.

He compiled a stylish 58 before getting an excellent delivery from Shane Snater which moved away to take his off stump.

His opening partner Sheridon Gumbs, who played four One-Day Cup games for Surrey in 2022, fell one short of a deserved half century on Championship debut when out of position attempting to play a Harmer delivery that kept low.

Jordan Cox may have been recalled to the test squad but Rehan Ahmed is still here. He was building nicely before falling lbw attempting to sweep.

Much now depends on Lewis Hill and Nick Kelly with Leicestershire still 69 behind.

  9. First innings lead reflects Yorkshire superioritypublished at 13:26 BST 14 June

    Yorkshire 469 & 27-1 v Warwickshire 263 - lunch

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Jonny Bairstow opted not to enforce the follow-on after Warwickshire fell well short of taking that decision out of his hands and the amount of turn Manav Suthar found in his exploratory over before lunch might have endorsed that decision in the Yorkshire captain’s mind.

Ethan Bamber made a ball divert surprisingly too in his opening spell for the Bears - certainly enough to surprise Adam Lyth, who looked back disbelievingly to find his off-stump askew after leaving a delivery in the eighth over.

Earlier Warwickshire’s lower-order detained Yorkshire’s bowlers for an hour. Ed Barnard only attempted to farm the strike after Keith Barker and Ethan Bamber had fallen in Hassan Ali’s new-ball spell, Barker bowled trying to drive to the legside, Bamber pinned by a full delivery.

Barnard responded by clumping Jack White on to the roof at the Trafalgar Square end, but before he had chance to try to repeat it and sprint towards a hundred, George Hill knocked over Oliver Hannon-Dalby’s off-stump.

The 206-run first-innings difference fairly reflected Yorkshire’s superiority with bat and ball over the first two days.

Two wickets just before lunch have changed the complexion of this game with both Glamorgan openers back in the pavilion after an opening stand of 112.

James Coles opened the door for Sussex by having Zain ul Hassan smartly caught by Tom Alsop at short leg, having batted 117 balls for his 30 runs, and then on the stroke of lunch Asa Tribe was bowled by Jack Carson.

Tribe looked frustrated as he left the field possibly because the clock was showing 1.00pm before the over started, but also possibly as skipper Carlson had taken a single from an overthrow the ball before.

Either way Sussex will enjoy their lunch after what had looked like being a wicketless morning

  11. 'Attritional' fare at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:21 BST 14 June

    Nottinghamshire 193 v Somerset 310 & 148-4 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Jason Kerr, the Somerset Head Coach, has described the pitch for this game as 'attritional' and the same adjective might fairly be applied to this morning's cricket.

Runs have been hard to come by, with Brett Hutton opening up with seven consecutive maidens, his very first ball accounting for Lewis Goldsworthy, caught behind.

After the departure of the nightwatchman, Alfie Ogborne, for an obdurate but valuable 17, the Rew brothers have picked up the pace, putting Somerset on course for a declaration sometime later this afternoon.

  13. Lunch at Leicesterpublished at 13:13 BST 14 June

    Leics 187 & 145-3 (f/o) Essex 401

Lewis Hill (5) scampers a run off Charlie Bennett before Nick Kelly (1) gets off the mark with a single and that’s lunch.

A much-needed solid morning for Leicestershire was dented before lunch by Simon Harmer.

The wily Essex spinner snared two wickets, removing both set batters - Sheridon Gumbs for 49 and Rehan Ahmed (23).

The Foxes also lost skipper Rishi Patel for 58 after a 96-run opening stand before Essex fought back.

Leicestershire have put on 94 this morning but remain 69 runs behind following on.

  14. Lunch at Stanley Parkpublished at 13:13 BST 14 June

    Lancs 89-2 - target 424

Lancashire have been much improved with the bat in their second innings but they still have a mountain to climb.

After taking the final two Kent wickets with minimum fuss this morning, they were faced with the task of chasing down 424, which would be their highest run chase in County Championship history.

They go to lunch with 335 runs still needed for victory and two wickets down.

Kent need eight more wickets to win.

  15. Postpublished at 13:11 BST 14 June

    Lancs 88-2 - target 424

Bertie Foreman is on to bowl some spin for his first over of the second innings and the final over before lunch.

  16. Postpublished at 13:10 BST 14 June

    Lancs 87-2 - target 424

A lovely shot by Marcus Harris from Matt Parkinson to push through the covers for four in what is likely to be the penultimate over before lunch.

  17. Postpublished at 13:09 BST 14 June

    Leics 187 & 144-3 (f/o) Essex 401

We'll have a late lunch at Leicester to make up for losing the entire morning of day one to rain.

Neither team seems in a rush between overs as they look to make Charlie Bennett's eighth over the last action before the interval.

  18. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:09 BST 14 June

    Durham 377 v Derbyshire 188 & 171-4 (f/o)

Super effort by Harry Came and nightwatch Nick Potts, who bat through the entire morning at the Riverside.

They have put on 72 so far, with Came reaching lunch on 77 not out from 210 balls and Potts a career-best 40 off 98.

The big danger for Derbyshire - who are now 88 behind - will be the second new ball, which is only 10 overs away.

Statto nonsense - I’ve just spotted that in 8 championship games this season Glamorgan have batted twice 7 times. And in each second innings both openers have got their highest score of the match.

    Hywel - Begur, Catalunya

    Great work, Hywel.

  20. Lunch at Worcesterpublished at 13:06 BST 14 June

    Middx 339 & 82-3 v Worc 265

Despite losing their third wicket in the final over before lunch Middlesex look well placed in this match. They lead by 156 on a pitch still doing a fair bit.

The opening pair of Sam Robson and Ben Geddes survived a few difficult moments to share a 50 partnership before both falling in successive overs from Ben Allison.

The fall of Max Holden to Ethan Brookes at the end of the session gives Worcestershire some hope but they won't want to be chasing much more than 250.
