George Munsey is an incredible player of spin and just got out before the spinners came on. He would have been licking his lips if he was still in.

  2. Sco 53-3published at 8 overs

Richie Berrington backs away to give himself some room against Akeal Hosein to the last ball of the over and manages to skewer the fielders in the ring to pick up a couple.

A decent show of intent from the Scotland skipper.

  3. 6 runs

    Sco 49-3published at 7.1 overs

More spin in the form of Akeal Hosein, but Richie Berrington sets his stall out with a brilliant lofted drive over extra cover for six!

That was as clean as a whistle from the Scotland captain.

  4. Sco 43-3published at 7 overs

Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie into the attack for the West Indies.

Scotland's power is all in the top order so a lot of work to do for Richie Berrington and Tom Bruce to here to keep themselves in touch.

Berrington attempts to slog sweep Motie but finds the fielder. Five singles off the over for Scotland.

I like what I’m seeing from this West Indies team. They’re my dark horses to go all the way.

An early contender for catch of the tournament! Shimron Hetmyer running round, full stretch to right and plucked out the air. What a catch.

    Munsey c Hetmyer b Joseph 19 (Sco 37-3)

    What a catch!

A one-handed stunner from Shimron Hetmyer.

George Munsey had just thrashed Shamar Joseph for four through point, and looked to have picked up another boundary off the West Indies seamer with a whip off his legs.

However, Hetmyer came running across behind square and dives to cling on to a speccy.

Not sure if it’s deliberate (but hoping it is). Scotland having a sleeve sponsor of Skyscanner shows someone has a sense of humour somewhere!

  10. Sco 33-2published at 5 overs

Scotland skipper Richie Berrington, a very level-headed player, joins George Munsey at the crease.

The shot was on there and Brandon McMullen probably counts himself unlucky there. That shot is one of his strengths.

Brandon McMullen attempts to scoop Romario Shepherd but ends up making a hash of it

McMullen shuffles to the off stump opens his stand but instead ends up taking it from outside off stump and flicking it on to the sticks.

George Munsey looks in pretty good touch here.

He threads one through the covers off Jason Holder for four to start the over before he and Brandon McMullen milk it around.

A decent start from Scotland at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Scotland, of course, had neither a kit nor a sponsor for this tournament until very late in the day. Thankfully both got sorted and the former is quite natty.

Nothing will beat Scotland's effort from the 1999 World Cup, though.

Brandon McMullen with a monster six.

The right-hander rocks back and deposits Matthew Forde into the stands over long on.

    Sweet as a nut.

  16. Sco 11-1published at 2 overs

Brandon McMullen punches Jason Holder's fifth ball of the over through long-off to get himself off the mark with a four.

    Decent start.

That was the right option from Michael Jones there but he didn't get enough on it, the shot was right but the execution wasn't.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1.2 overs

    Jones c Rutherford b Holder 1 (Sco 7-1)

    A setback from Scotland.

Michael Jones is a handy player for Scotland but he's trudging back to the pavilion.

It's a little too full from Jason Holder for the Lancs batter, who is targeting the 61-metre boundary square, but ends up short and Sherfane Rutherford pouches the catch in the deep.

Amazing to see how Brad Currie has bowled in a World Cup. Used to play with him in his junior days in Poole almost 10 years ago!
