131 is Jos Buttler's best ever T20 score.

One swing too many but there have been enough swings here to put England in such a good position.

    Buttler c Iyer b Dube 131 (Eng 241-2)

A tired slog from Jos Buttler off Shivam Dube goes skywards and Shreyas Iyer takes his time to station himself under the catch at backward square.

    Superb knock from Buttler.

You know when Jos Buttler does that walk away after hitting the ball that he knows it came off the middle of the bat.

    Eng 237-1published at 18.2 overs

    And another.

A full toss from Shivam Dube and Jos Buttler takes a few steps back having picked up the length and slams it over the ropes.

    The carnage continues.

  6. 6 runs

    Eng 231-1published at 18.2 overs

With Arshdeep Singh bowled out the ball is given to Shivam Dube.

Jos Buttler is k-n-a-c-k-e-r-e-d but gets one in the slot from the India seamer and bashes it over extra cover for six.

  7. Eng 225-1published at 18 overs

Prasidh Krishna manages to squeeze three dots out of his final over to finish with 1-38 which are not the worst figures today.

    Two overs to go.

It's so rhythmical from Jos Buttler. He never seems rushed and always seems to get things in the right place and at the right time.

  9. Eng 223-1published at 17.4 overs

Jos Buttler slaps a couple off Prasidh Krishna before reverting to the ramp, taking it from on off stump and lifting it over the wicketkeeper for four.

Well bowled, Arshdeep. It's a weird thing to say when a bloke has bowled four wides in an over. But he's given India a bit of control there.

  11. Eng 217-1published at 17.2 overs

There's an element of these two getting a little jaded now - particularly Jos Buttler.

    Bring us a forced retirement...

Most Runs as a Captain for England in a bilateral series:

    • Harry Brook - 198* runs vs India - 2026
    • Eoin Morgan - 192 runs vs New Zealand - 2019
    • Jos Buttler - 161 runs vs West Indies - 2023

With that six over long-off, Harry Brook became the highest run-getter for England in a bilateral T20I series, overtaking Eoin Morgan.

It's a good plan but the execution isn't what Ashdeep would like. You have to ask the question - why didn't they try this plan earlier?

  14. dropped catch

Brook dropped on 85published at 16.5 overs

Arshdeep Singh with a quartet of wides attempting to push the ball across Jos Buttler and Harry Brook extends the over.

Sanju Samson chuckles behind the stumps after Brook misses an attempted reverse lap.

Brook miscues it to deep long-off and the diving Tilak Varma is unable to scoop his fingers under it.

This is England's best partnership in T20Is. The previous best was 182 runs by Dawid Malan and Eoin Morgan against New Zealand in 2019.

What an enigma cricket is, a few days ago Buttler couldn’t buy a run and today he appears to hit effortless sixes.

Pitched outside leg. As you were.

It very full on the pads but the likelihood is that it pitched outside leg stump.

  19. India reviewpublished at 16.1 overs

Arshdeep Singh spins around and appeals after striking Harry Brook on the pad as the England batter collapses over trying to work it off his toes.

    India review.

Probably more just for a break from fetching the ball from the other side of the rope.

  20. Eng 209-1published at 16 overs

Jos Buttler edges it down fine leg and the partnership for the second wicket is 201 off 87 balls.

    Remarkable hitting from these two.
