Well...at least I won't get in trouble for constantly checking my phone during Father's Day lunch I guess.

  2. Eng 192-7published at 52 overs

    Target 463

Jordan Cox, collar up and ginger hair poking out of the back of his helmet, defends four deliveries before timing a cut sweetly through point for four. He's looking fairly unruffled by the drama at the other end.

England have no real middle order in this match. Stokes and Smith are a cornerstone of that. In both innings we haven’t offered much. Incoming 250 run defeat. Then again not many sides can lose 5 players and compete.

    Target 463

Double-wicket maiden for Matt Henry. Anyone got any fun plans for after lunch?

Jofra Archer couldn't have played that, absolute shooter.

    Archer b Henry 0 (Eng 188-7)

Lovely delivery from Matt Henry! Kept low and went straight through Jofra Archer, who can't do anything but throw his head back and laugh. Stumps everywhere.

Two wickets in three balls. England are rocking.

Matt Fisher is scrambling around for his pads in the dressing room.

Joe Root's trudging off very slowly. I think he's in a bit of disbelief about how he's missed it.

That's a death knell for England. He'll go off shaking his head like he did in the first innings.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 50.1 overs

    Root lbw b Henry 77 (Eng 188-6)

Three reds, crashing into the top of the stumps.

Joe Root shakes his head but it didn't feel like anything more than a hopeful review.

Warm applause around The Oval as he trudges off for 77 (145).

  11. England reviewpublished at 50.1 overs

Joe Root has been given out lbw. The England captain reviewed it quite quickly but he doesn't look happy.

It's crashing into his back pad.

  12. Eng 188-5published at 50 overs

Oooh, slight intake of breath as Joe Root edges one just short of a diving Tom Latham in the slips.

Earlier in the over, Jordan Cox guided a lovely stroke through the covers for three.

If these two start really confidently and still are going in an hours time, that little bit of momentum, the belief comes.

What a really lovey opportunity for Jordan Cox. He's got a whole day, really good batting conditions. This is not a bad fifth day pitch at all, he's got a great chance.

We weren't the finished articles from day one. There's so much growth needed in your game to be a really consistent performer at Test cricket.

Right. So we just need Root to score another 250 and the rest to chip in with 31 between them. Come on England!
