I can't imagine anyone of Indian persuasion is particularly happy here. They are going down all guns blazing, though.

  2. wicket

Varma st Buttler b Jacks 3 (Ind 60-6)

I thought Jos Buttler might have lost control of that, but it's given out and Tilak Varma trudges off.

England's wicketkeeper has a wry smile on his face, while there are some very glum faces in the India dugout.

  3. Umpire reviewpublished at 7.1 overs

England should have a sixth as Tilak Varma runs straight past one from Will Jacks.

But has Jos Buttler dropped it before taking the bails off?

Adil Rashid has the luxury of trying everything and anything with India five down here.

  5. Ind 60-5published at 7 overs

Tilak Varma has started in scratchy fashion - three off nine balls.

Adil Rashid straight into his work.

    India playing Bazball.

    David, Dulwich

You don’t need to play a shot a ball to chase 202. This has been very poor from India. Very naive.

    Russ, Southend

India never learn, you don't need to hit sixes every ball. Playing without thought and like headless chickens!

  7. Ind 54-5published at 6 overs

Excellent stuff from Will Jacks, who concedes just two runs from his opening over.

An action-packed powerplay ends in serene fashion.

The gamble with the field placements for Axar Patel has paid off for England. India are now in a really deep hole and England really have put them under pressure with these five wickets.

  9. Ind 52-5published at 5.1 overs

Will Jacks will bowl the final over of the powerplay.

    He starts with a dot.

Completely reckless play from India. You don’t have to score two sixes an over to get to 201. They could be walking this.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5 overs

    Patel c Buttler b Archer 10 (Ind 52-5)

Six and out for Axar Patel.

A little tickle through to Jos Buttler and England have another.

  12. 6 runs

    Ind 52-4published at 4.5 overs

India's batters continue to play their shots.

Axar Patel gets on top of the bounce and punches Jofra Archer through the off-side for four before an upper cut brings him six more.

India's batters have gone after the England bowlers a little bit too hard a little bit too early on.

But you have to understand of those 19 T20 internationals most would be in the subcontinent where you have to keep going hard because of the pitches.

India have played 19 T20Is this year. They've made it through the powerplay without losing a wicket once - and losing just the one wicket only four times.

This is unfortunate for Shreyas Iyer. He dispatched one to the boundary in the previous over from Jofra Archer and it's almost the same delivery but the fielder is in a slightly different position.

India are in massive trouble here.

Jofra Archer has a huge grin on his face. He's howling with laughter because he knows it's not a great delivery.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.1 overs

    Shreyas c Bethell b Archer 5 (Ind 41-4)

Two in two for England! India in all sorts.

A half-volley on leg stump and Shreyas Iyer flicks it straight to Jacob Bethell, who is in the right place once again.

The India captain has to go.

Ishan Kishan was waiting for that length, but he was through the shot early. He wanted to play that shot and it got the toe end of the bat and no distance. India are in a bit of trouble.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4 overs

    Kishan c Bethell b Tongue 13 (Ind 41-3)

    Three down in the powerplay.

Ishan Kishan tries to clear the ropes again, but hits it straight to Jacob Bethell at backward square leg.

He doesn't drop them and Josh Tongue has two.

With those two wickets lost in the powerplay I think these two India batters will play a little more conservatively which gives England's bowlers a chance to turn the screw a little more.
