up for Surreypublished at 15:12 BST 7 June

    Surrey 202-3 v Hampshire

Dan Lawrence gets a touch fortunate with a thick edge which loops over the slips and away to the rope.

He moves to 85* and brings up the Surrey 200. Batting points on the horizon, which not many would have expected when the ball rang this morning.

  2. 100 runs

stand for Surreypublished at 15:10 BST 7 June

    Surrey 197-3 v Hampshire

This has been a very important stand for the fourth wicket between Dan Lawrence and Ollie Pope and they have added 100 runs from 92 balls.

This is a Championship match on a green seamer, remember...

  3. Postpublished at 15:08 BST 7 June

    Surrey 197-3 v Hampshire

Felix Organ is back, from the Pavilion End, with a longer boundary to work with on the leg side and he's deliberately skidding them in flatter this time around.

They milk four singles from the over... and improvement of 15 on his last.

Dan Lawrence has 81* with Ollie Pope 35*.

  4. Postpublished at 15:04 BST 7 June

    Surrey 193-3 v Hampshire

Short and wide from James Fuller and Dan Lawrence cuts away to the deep point boundary effortlessly to move to 78*.

The Surrey run rate has ballooned to well over four an over, having been under two for most of the morning.

Hampshire are toiling here, in conditions which looked pretty favourable when they won the toss.

Fuller replies well and almost cuts Ollie Pope in half with one which nips back and hits the top of the pad but outside the line.

  5. Postpublished at 15:00 BST 7 June

    Surrey 187-3 v Hampshire

Sonny Baker gives up just a single from his 13th over of the day, Hampshire's 45th.

Will Ben Brown throw Felix Organ the ball for a second over or will James Fuller return?

It's looking like Fuller... 1-0-19-0 and out for Organ. This is a four-day match, remember...

What do you think Pope's aim in the next 18 months? Surely get back into the England side. Playing a bazball esque knock today will help!

    Mark, Horsley

Well, he's also keeping this week, so who knows what his ambitions are? One thing is for sure, his problems have never been a lack of batting talent.

  7. 6 runs

for Dan Lawrencepublished at 14:55 BST 7 June

    Surrey 186-3 v Hampshire

Delano Potgieter is removed from the attack by Hampshire, which won't brighten his mood.

Felix Organ is brought into the attack, the first spin of the match, and Lawrence launches him over the rather short mid-on boundary for six.

This is all rather getting away from Hampshire after winning the toss in favourable conditions.

Lawrence gets down on one knee to slog-sweep a one-bounce four over deep square and the final ball is a monstrous hit over cow corner, a good 20 rows back.

19 off the spinner's first over. His seamers won't enjoy seeing that. Kyle Abbott is 39 this month for goodness' sake.

  8. Postpublished at 14:52 BST 7 June

    Surrey 167-3 v Hampshire

Dan Lawrence and Ollie Pope have really upped the run-rate in the 11 overs they have been together, adding 69 runs.

They rotate the strike with three singles off Sonny Baker's latest over before Lawrence steps across his stumps to whip a short ball down to the fine leg boundary for his 12th four.

  9. SURREY AWARDED FIVE PENALTY RUNSpublished at 14:47 BST 7 June

    Surrey 160-3 v Hampshire

Very testy end to the end of Delano Potgieter's over as he fields a bump ball from Dan Lawrence and then launches the ball back at the stumps, narrowly evading Lawrence.

He didn't hit the batter, who was nonetheless unhappy and gestured with his bat at the bowler, but Surrey have been awarded five penalty runs by the umpires for his aggression, which won't improve his mood.

Delano Potgieter draws another play and a miss from Dan Lawrence.

Lawrence responds with a glorious cover drive on the walk which races away for four and brings up a rapid 50 stand with Ollie Pope.

The next ball is clipped sweetly through mid-wicket for another four and brings up a 66-ball half-century, with 11 fours along the way.

    Very impressive stuff.

We've had a look at the ball, now 41 overs old, but looks like we'll continue with it after Sonny Baker's latest over.

How is Lawrence not in any of the England setups. Can do it with the ball and bat in both red and white ball?

    Olly, Walton

A good question, Olly. He's in some form at present too.

  13. Postpublished at 14:36 BST 7 June

    Surrey 144-3 v Hampshire

Delano Potgieter has been a problem in these conditions with his steady pace and nagging accuracy.

However the last ball of his latest over is a little wide and overpitched and Ollie Pope tucks in with a flashing square drive for four - his sixth in short order. He has 27*.

  14. Postpublished at 14:32 BST 7 June

    Surrey 139-3 v Hampshire

Big swing from Ollie Pope as he attempts to cut away a wide one from Sonny Baker, it finds the edge and flashes narrowly past second slip and all the way to the rope.

Baker responds by drawing a play and a miss.

Pope has slightly ridden his luck to a run-a-ball 23*.

  15. Postpublished at 14:29 BST 7 June

    Surrey 135-3 v Hampshire

Delano Potgieter returns to the attack in place of James Fuller, seeking to his add to his two wickets from the morning session.

Ollie Pope clips the third ball off his hips for a four to fine leg and is on to 19* from 18 deliveries.

Dan Lawrence is on 41* as he takes strike against Sonny Baker for the 39th over.

  16. Postpublished at 14:23 BST 7 June

    Surrey 130-3 v Hampshire

Sonny Baker returns to the attack in place of Kyle Abbott at the Pavilion End.

Dan Lawrence and Ollie Pope pick up singles to third before Lawrence times a deliberate dab to third through the vacant third slip area to move into the 40s with a ninth boundary.

  17. Postpublished at 14:19 BST 7 June

    Surrey 124-3 v Hampshire

Ollie Pope times one beautifully to crack James Fuller through mid-wicket for his second boundary.

Pope's eyes lit up to the fifth ball and he has a massive swipe outside off but gets nothing on the ball, it could have gone anywhere.

From the sublime to the ridiculous to the sublime again, though, clipped a ball on middle-stump past mid-wicket for another boundary to move to 14* with Dan Lawrence 36* at the other end.

  18. 'Pope loves playing Hampshire'published at 14:16 BST 7 June

    Surrey 120-3 v Hampshire

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Ollie Pope has scored more runs against Hampshire than any player has managed against any county - 1,261 runs, averages 90, and that's before today.

  19. Postpublished at 14:14 BST 7 June

    Surrey 116-3 v Hampshire

Ollie Pope leans on a fuller one from Kyle Abbott and the ball flashes past the slips away to the third boundary, slightly fortuitously.

Pope works the next into the on-side for a single before Abbott draws a play and miss from Dan Lawrence, who leaves the next one which flashes past the top of off stump.

Lawrence goes fishing for the final ball of the over which is shaped away but there's no contact as it sails through to Ben Brown.

  20. Postpublished at 14:10 BST 7 June

    Surrey 111-3 v Hampshire

Short from James Fuller and Dan Lawrence has absolutely middled this pull through the leg side to move onto 32* with his sixth boundary.

Number seven follows from the next ball, a a lovely straight drive down the ground to the long-on rope, shot of the day and the only one in that part of the wagon-wheel, I'd venture.

    Nelson time.
