Can't believe home much has been already spent on Jofra Archer. He's a good player, but not £400k good in this format

    Conchubar, London

Southern Brave made Jofra Archer one of their four pre-signings for £400,000.

Gutted to lose Adil Rashid, he's always played at Headingly for Northern Superchargers since day one of the Hundred. Now Sunrisers Leeds let him leave for Southern Brave.

I can't recall a player yesterday receiving bids from four different teams like we saw with Joe Root.

We're now at five different bidders for Jordan Cox...

Southern Brave are late entrants into the battle for the signature of Jordan Cox but Sunrisers Leeds are also very much interested in the wicketkeeper-batter.

Adil Rashid should enjoy the large square boundaries down at Southampton after being snapped up by Southern Brave - across 11 T20/Hundred matches at Southampton, Rashid has taken 12 wickets at an average of 22 while conceding at just 1.14 runs per ball.

Brave now have arguably England's best spinner and pace bowler in their ranks, having retained Jofra Archer prior to the auction.

Jordan Cox will be the wicketkeeper every franchise will be looking out for and announced himself with Kent.

The 25-year-old is also no stranger to the global T20 circuit having played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Pretoria Capitals and Melbourne Renegades to name but a few.

Trent Rockets and Birmingham Phoenix have shown early interest in Cox with his price skyrocketing to £150,000 already.

After losing Joe Root to Welsh Fire, Sunrisers Leeds are going for Adil Rashid with a £200,000 bid.

But Trent Rockets aren’t backing down - they’re straight in with a counter‑bid as the battle for Rashid heats up.

Joe Root's recent short format improvement is rewarded with a £240,000 sale to Welsh Fire.

Since the start of 2025, Root is averaging a touch under 40 while striking at 135 with the bat in T20s - his bowling has also proven to be a key asset, averaging 22 while conceding at just 1.12 runs per ball.

Up for grabs next is Adil Rashid.

He is England’s premier white‑ball leg‑spinner and a pivotal figure in their World Cup heroics in 2019. Rashid was also part of the T20 World Cup-winning squad of 2022.

The 38-year-old is a regular in T20 leagues across the world having featured for Adelaide Strikers, Dhaka Dynamites, Punjab Kings, Pretoria Capital, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Sharjah Warriorz. In The Hundred, he has been a regular for Northern Superchargers.

It looked like Sunrisers Leeds had Joe Root for £230,000.

But Welsh Fire waits a while before making a £240,000 bid and it's not rivalled by others in the room.

Root will play for the Cardiff-based side in the 2026 edition of the Hundred.

The Sunrisers cohort have switched shirts from orange yesterday to white today. Good move. Yesterday's outfit was a bit budget airline.

Welsh Fire have been really poorly put together over the years. But excellent picks leading into this. Must get Tribe and Kellaway now. Would love Hetmyer too

There's an early tug of war between Southern Brave and Manchester Super Giants for Joe Root.

But Welsh Fire come in with a £180,000 bid before Sunrisers Leeds better it.

It's all happening and we are well and truly under way here!

  20. Postpublished at 10:16 GMT 12 March

Up first for the auction is Joe Root.

One player who doesn’t need any introductions.

Root is one of England’s greatest across all formats. He has been a key presence in the Trent Rockets line-up during the past editions of The Hundred but could be about to find a new home in a short while.

And Manchester Super Giants open the proceedings with a bid of £75,000.
