Matheesha Pathirana is holding his knee. It's either his knee or hamstring. This will be a huge blow for Sir Lanka.

Watching the replay, there is nothing there which suggests he has really hurt himself.

  2. Aus 28-0published at 2.4 overs

It was turning into a tight over from Matheesha Pathirana.

But the Sri Lanka pacer has pulled up during his follow-through and has hit the ground, needing medical attention.

This is not looking good for the co-hosts.

This will go one way or the other from Matheesha Pathirana. It'll either smack Mitch Marsh in the pads or go into the stands.

  4. Aus 25-0published at 2.1 overs

Matheesha Pathirana into the attack for Sri Lanka as he replaces the expensive Dushmantha Chameera.

  5. Aus 25-0published at 2 overs

Far more convincing from Travis Head as he brings up back-to-back boundaries off Maheesh Theekshana.

The off-spinner gives away nine runs in his first over.

  6. Aus 20-0published at 1.3 overs

Travis Head, who stood in as Australia captain for their first two T20 World Cup games in Mitch Marsh's absence, can count himself lucky here.

He looks to slap Maheesh Theekshana down the ground but manages a thick outside edge to beat wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis and the field at short third as it runs away for four.

What a shot from Mitch Marsh and what a start from Australia. They do have a point to prove as they weren't at their best against Zimbabwe, which they were expected to win.

  8. 6 runs

    Aus 16-0published at 1 over

Dushmantha Chameera's first over goes for 16 runs.

Mitch Marsh picks up a short ball from Sri Lanka's right-arm seamer and launches it over long-on for a maximum!

  9. Aus 9-0published at 0.4 overs

Travis Head opens the account too with a boundary - just like his captain Mitch Marsh.

He's take the aerial route over mid-wicket to get his first four.

Not a good start for Sri Lanka and Dushmantha Chameera.

Judging by the way the ball is coming onto the bat and the dimensions of the ground, we could be on for a high-scoring game.

  11. Aus 4-0published at 0.2 overs

Australia and Mitch Marsh are off the mark in majestic fashion.

A confident cut to send the ball to the boundary through point and it races away despite a valiant chase from the Sri Lanka fielder.

  12. Postpublished at 13:31 GMT 16 February

Travis Head and Mitch Marsh are out in the middle - plenty of experience between the two and Australia will need all of it today.

Buoyed by a noisy home crowd, Sri Lanka are about to send Dushmantha Chameera to attack the Australian duo.

Matt Kuhnemann, Ben Dwarshuis and Matt Renshaw miss out for them.
