Sri Lanka were staring down the barrel of a 220-240 target, but they have restricted Australia to 181.

Australia have lost an opportunity to not go past 200.

  3. wicket

Australia set Sri Lanka target of 182published at 20 overs

Zampa run out (Kusal Mendis) 1 (Aus 181 all out)

A brilliant effort from Sri Lanka as they recover from Australia's blistering start to bundle them out in the end.

Australia were 104-0 after openers Travis Head and the returning Mitch Marsh gave them a solid platform to build.

It looked at one point like they were looking for a total of around 200-220, but they've failed to fully capitalise and giving Sri Lanka a chance to seal their progress.

Bartlett run out (Kusal Mendis) 0 (Aus 180-9)

    Australia lose another wicket.

New batter Nathan Ellis swings and misses but Australia decide to set off for a run anyway.

But wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis does not miss with his throw and Xavier Bartlett has to walk.

It is a good catch from Maheesh Theekshana. Australia are just not getting the finish that they need.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.3 overs

    Stoinis c Theekshana b Chameera 4 (Aus 180-8)

Marcus Stoinis is gone and it's more good work on the field from Sri Lanka, who have looked a different side in the second half of this innings.

It's another slower delivery from Dushmantha Chameera to produce an edge and Maheesh Theekshana takes a good catch at short third.

  7. Aus 180-7published at 19.2 overs

Dushmantha Chameera oversteps to concede a free hit.

But the Sri Lanka seamer recovers well as a slower ball whistles past the wild swing of Marcus Stoinis.

Oh, dear. A big no ball from Dushmantha Chameera. You talk about small moments in T20 having a massive difference.

  9. Aus 177-7published at 19.1 overs

And it's another dot ball to start the final over with Dushmantha Chameera bowling and Marcus Stoinis on strike.

  10. Aus 177-7published at 19 overs

Maheesh Theekshana went for 0-35 in his first three overs, but finishes with a wicket and just two runs in his final one.

He gives new batter Xavier Bartlett a torrid time with three dot balls to finish his allocation.

Kusal Perera is a keeper by trade and it was a comfortable catch.

    Connolly c Perera b Theekshana 3 (Aus 177-7)

    Another Australia wicket falls.

  13. Aus 175-6published at 18 overs

Cooper Connolly joins Marcus Stoinis in the middle.

Australia will have two fresh batters out there going into the final couple of overs.

Dushmantha Chameera has done Josh Inglis beautifully there with bowling four slower balls in a row. Great bowling.

  15. wicket

    Inglis c Wellalage b Chameera 27 (Aus 174-6)

Josh Inglis is undone by a bouncer from Dushmantha Chameera.

He swivels on the backfoot but top-edges it - an easy grab for Dunith Wellalage.

  16. Aus 172-5published at 17.2 overs

Straight down the ground for four from Josh Inglis as Australia sail towards 200.

Putting down a reasonably simple chance, and then taking an absolute screamer an over later. Cricket. It is a stupid sport.

  18. Aus 168-5published at 17 overs

Josh Inglis continues to keep Australia's score ticking with another boundary to make it nine runs this over.

Dushan Hemantha finishes with figures of 3-37 - he's been the pick of Sri Lanka bowlers.

Pathum Nissanka made up for that dropped catch. He put Glenn Maxwell down in the previous over. That is an absolute screamer. The anticipation of it makes the catch so impressive. To have the presence of mind to track the ball - remarkable.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.1 overs

    Maxwell c Nissanka b Hemantha 22 (Aus 160-5)

An absolute screamer from Pathum Nissanka this time!

He's more than made up for dropping Glenn Maxwell in the previous over with a brilliant flying catch at backward point to sent back the Australia all-rounder.

It was travelling with pace after Maxwell went for a reverse hit but Nissanka dives to his left and gets both hands to it. There is a review to see if he had collected it cleanly but no mistake from the Sri Lanka fielder there.
