One of the reasons we love sport is because there's always the opportunity for a great underdog story.

If Jake Paul finds a way to beat Anthony Joshua tonight then it would rank as one of the biggest upsets in boxing.

Leicester City beat 5000-1 odds to win the Premier League in 2016.

In boxing, Buster Douglas was a 42-1 underdog when he beat Mike Tyson in 1999.

What is your favourite underdog moment in sport? And where would a Paul win rank in history?

The referee has waved off the contest.

Tyron Woodley went down to the canvas in round two and did not manage to convince the referee he could continue.

  4. Paul v Joshua - what are the rules and are knockouts allowed?published at 02:16 GMT 20 December 2025

Concerns have been raised about this bout but it is a professional fight and is being sanctioned by the Florida Athletic Commission.

Joshua and Paul will compete in eight three-minute rounds and they will wear 10oz gloves - the normal size for a heavyweight fight.

Both teams and the commission say knockouts are permitted.

The only reported stipulation is with regard to weight - Joshua, who is a natural heavyweight, could not weigh more than 17st 7lb (111kg) to face Paul, who has fought most of his career at cruiserweight.

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul have walked very different roads to reach this stage.

Joshua won Olympic gold in 2012 and turned professional the following year as Paul began experimenting with social media - posting videos to the app Vine.

After Vine was discontinued, Paul, who had already amassed a large following, moved to YouTube and in 2016 - the same year Joshua became IBF heavyweight champion - earned a place on Disney Channel series Bizaardvark.

By the time Paul had his one and only amateur fight in 2018, Joshua had a perfect 21-0 record and was the unified heavyweight champion after beating Wladimir Klitschko.

  9. What fights are still to come?published at 02:08 GMT 20 December 2025

    Paul v Joshua

We've already seen six fights tonight but there are three bouts still to go:

    • Jake Paul v Anthony Joshua – heavyweight (8x3min rounds)
    • Alycia Baumgardner v Lela Beaudoin – WBA, IBF & WBO super-featherweight world titles (12x3min rounds)
    • Anderson Silva v Tyron Woodley – cruiserweight (6x3min rounds)
  10. Who else could Dubois face?published at 02:06 GMT 20 December 2025

Dubois beats Panetta by unanimous decision

We'll see Alycia Baumgardner in action shortly but Caroline Dubois, despite seemingly being open to facing the American a couple of days ago, has played down signing up to that bout next.

"Not next, but definitely down the line," Dubois said of Baumgardner in her post-fight interview.

A unification fight with Doncaster's Terri Harper - the WBO champion and also signed to MVP - appears a realistic next step.

Elsewhere in the division, WBA champion Stephanie Han and Turkey's IBF title holder Elif Nur Turhan, who has eight knockouts in 12 wins, offer unification possibilities.

From headlining an all-women’s card at the Royal Albert Hall on International Women’s Day to now fighting on Netflix, the foundations are firmly in place for Caroline Dubois.

Now it’s up to Dubois to turn herself into a global star. She’ll need the right dance partner - and she might have one. Her back-and-forth with Alycia Baumgardner at the news conference was genuinely entertaining.

Caroline Dubois has really found her voice this fight week and looks like she’s loving the attention. She’s been walking around the fighter hotel, stopping for chats with just about everyone. Dubois has come on hugely in recent years and Most Valuable Promotions may just be the perfect home for her.

Before we dive into build-up for the main event, let's get you caught up on a fight that took place earlier.

Caroline Dubois produced a commanding performance on her American debut, outpointing Camilla Panatta to retain her WBC lightweight title.

The 24-year-old Londoner boxed with patience and control, showcasing her superior speed, timing and ring intelligence at the Kaseya Center.

Dubois dropped Panatta with a beautifully timed counter right in the sixth round before going on to win the 10-round contest by unanimous decision,

Comparing punch stats for Dubois v Panatta. Punches landed 115 Dubois, 60 Panatta. Power punches landed - 69 Dubois, 29 Panatta. % punches thrown landed - 37% Dubois, 19% Panatta.

All three judges scored it 99-90.

"I felt like I could have done a little bit more, I give myself a B", Dubois said, perhaps harsh in her own assessment.

Dubois was fighting for the first time under new promoters Most Valuable Promotions and on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's heavyweight bout against Jake Paul.

She extends her professional record to 12 wins and one draw, handing Panatta a third defeat in 12 fights.

I arrived around 18:00 local time to catch the prelims and the Kaseya Center - home of the Miami Heat with a seating capacity of up to 20,000 - was pretty empty.

It’ll be interesting to see how many seats are filled by the time Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua make their ringwalks. There’s been talk that ticket sales haven’t quite hit the levels promoters were hoping for.

It’s a stark contrast to Jake Paul v Mike Tyson in Texas last year, where the AT&T Stadium in Dallas was packed hours before the main event.

That said, as a venue this is excellent. Steep tiers, great sightlines - one of those arenas where you get a good view no matter where you’re sat.

This is the time of year when magical things happen and Jake Paul will need to have a few tricks up his sleeve to pull off a major upset against Anthony Joshua.
