Anthony Joshua’s CV is stacked: Olympic gold medallist, two-time world champion, the face of British boxing. Your nan knows who Joshua is. Does fighting Jake Paul erase all that? No. But losing to Paul - or even going the distance - kind of does. That would be the footnote he’d never escape.

A comfortable win for Alycia Baumgardner.

Two judges had it 117-110 with the other scoring it 118-109.

Baumgardner retains the WBA, IBF & WBO super-featherweight world titles.

It was her first time fighting 12, three-minute rounds. Baumgardner relinquished her WBC belt to be allowed to fight the same as in the men's code.

    Baumgardner v Beaudoin

We're heading into the final round of our co-main event, and other than that knockdown in round seven it hasn't been a fight to remember.

Featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner has controlled most of the action, and Leila Beaudoin has done well to stay in there until now.

It should be a straightforward call for the judges if we hear the final bell.

Someone said to me this week: if Grimsby Town can beat Manchester United, why can’t Jake Paul beat Anthony Joshua? Grimsby didn’t have a 6ft 6in, 17-stone heavyweight trying to punch their head off. They had Harry Maguire to deal with.

There's also a Mismatch in Adelaide... 67-2 England in reply to Australia. But England certainly have more chance than Jake Paul tonight.

Anthony Joshua still has ambitions of becoming a three-time world champion. It’s easy to criticise him for taking this fight, but this is prizefighting. The general feeling in boxing is you can’t begrudge Joshua for one of the biggest paydays of his career.

For Jake Paul, though, this is genuinely dangerous. There’s a clear uneasiness around his camp. His business partner and Most Valuable Promotions CEO Nakisa Bidarian described Paul as “crazy” for taking the fight. I’ve spoken to people close to Paul this week and there is concern behind the scenes.

Jake Paul has done his best to talk down Anthony Joshua's credentials this week - pointing at his most recent fight when he lost against Daniel Dubois.

But that was just one of his 13 world title contests dating back to 2016, 12 of those were in a row.

There aren't many on the heavyweight scene with Joshua's experience.

Richie Woodhall has not held back in his assessment of this bout.

"This is like Telford United taking on Manchester United," Woodhall told BBC Sport.

Woodhall is a retired world champion, a Team GB coach and boxing analyst.

On whether Paul can make it to the top of the sport, Woodhall said: "No. Absolutely not. If he wants a world title shot, he can go climb the ranks.

"He's a novice pro, but could get the experience. Money talks but I don’t think he can. I doubt he has got the ability or the patience for it."

  20. Baumgardner drops Beaudoinpublished at 03:29 GMT 20 December 2025

    Baumgardner v Beaudoin

Alycia Baumgardner, who asked for 12 three-minute rounds, has been controlling the fight, and that perfectly-timed right late in the seventh is strong evidence.

It hasn't been the most exciting spectacle, but I imagine Baumgardner will start to work for the stoppage now.
