    Paul v Joshua

Retired former lightweight world champion Anthony Crolla: "If it's not staged or anything like that, I think we see AJ win in round two by stoppage."

British super-middleweight Troy Williamson (who headlines on BBC Three on Saturday): "AJ on points, but it shouldn't be points. He should clean it out in a few minutes or maybe the second round at the latest. But I can just see it going to points, I don't know why."

SPOTY winner Rory McIlroy speaking ringside before the fight: "I commend Jake for taking this fight, he's very brave. The reach advantage, the height advantage, experience, I can't see past AJ.

"I'm a big fight fan, I can't see any other result than an early knockout by Joshua."

  11. 'If Joshua loses a round, that's a problem'published at 04:07 GMT 20 December 2025

    Paul v Joshua

    Andre Ward
Retired two-weight world champion on Netflix

Joshua's career will be over if he loses. He may fight on, but nobody will believe in him anymore. There is a small margin of error, if he loses a round, that's a problem.

I genuinely believe Joshua will have this fight finished within 3 rounds...

    Jake, Beckenham, Kent

Jake Paul looks so nervous I am genuinely worried he could get seriously hurt tonight. He looks terrified. Best case scenario he goes down from a body shot for him.

Anthony Joshua hasn't fought in 2025 before tonight, his last fight coming in September 2024 when he faced Daniel Dubois in front of 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

Joshua was on a four-fight win streak heading into his bout with Dubois, and had hoped to become a three-time champion and return to the division's top table with a win.

However, underdog Dubois looked comfortable throughout the fight, dropping Joshua in rounds one, three, four and five.

It was in the fifth round that Joshua was counted out after a counter right-hand landed flush.

"I had a fast and sharp opponent, a lot of mistakes from my end," Joshua admitted after the fight.

  18. 'Don't touch me'published at 04:00 GMT 20 December 2025

    Paul v Joshua

Things got a little heated after Thursday's weigh-in when Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua faced off.

Paul raised his fist towards Joshua's face and the Briton pushed it away before saying "don't touch me".

Joshua then made a throat-slitting gesture as Paul walked away - another unwelcome sight following the Londoner's "kill" comments earlier in the week.

"This win was for my dad, I give myself an A plus for showing up. I buried my dad last year, it has been a hard transition period.

"I push through, I believe in myself, I have faith, and that's why I'm here."

On how she felt not getting the stoppage? "I'm not disappointed [I didn't get the finish]. We did 12 rounds. I'm just happy I could go the distance."

On if she was hurt in the final rounds? "She didn't hurt me at all. It was fun, I enjoyed it. Three minutes is made for me and my style. Caroline (Dubois), I want that smoke!

"There's a lot of girls lined up next, my next fight looks like a main event."
