Summary

  1. Fumble!published at 02:08 GMT 11 January

Green Bay Packers 14-3 Chicago Bears

Cole Kmet cacthes then fumbles the ball, but the Bears recover. Green Bay then challenge the fact he made the catch, which is upheld so that chalks off the first down and it's fourth and four.

Chicago are going for it again...

  2. touchdown

Brilliant! A third down and nine no less and Jordan Love calmly lofts a ball out to the left right to the back shoulder of Jayden Reed who spins, gathers, and races into the end zone for an 18-yard touchdown.

That's two possessions and two touchdowns for the Packers so far, who seem to have all the answers for all the questions posed by the Bears defence.

Love is 7/9 for 116 yards and two touchdowns, the Packers are 4-4 on third down and most importantly they lead by 11.

  3. Sackpublished at 01:59 GMT 11 January

Green Bay Packers 7-3 Chicago Bears

Austin Booker drops Jordan Love for the first sack of the game. There's a hint of a hit to the head on the QB but not flags around.

A hit from Booker forced Love out of the last game here a few weeks ago when he suffered a concussion, so that shot will be familiar - or actually maybe it won't.

  4. Interception!published at 01:47 GMT 11 January

Caleb Williams going for it again on fourth down - this time he's intercepted but that's the best possible outcome!

It's a poor throw from Williams that's right at Green Bay's Carrington Valentine, but instead of catching it on his own 12 he should have just let the ball hit the ground, as since it was fourth down the Packers would've taken over on downs way back up on the 40.

Poor play all around that one, although tough on Valentine as it'd been a huge heads-up play for him to think about dropping the interception in the heat of battle.

  5. Big completionpublished at 01:44 GMT 11 January

Green Bay Packers 7-3 Chicago Bears

Ben Johnson shows confidence in Caleb Williams as they roll the dice on fourth down, but as he's done so often this season Williams delivers with a dart down the middle for DJ Moore for 17 yards.

Williams has been electric this season with the game on the line down the stretch in fourth quarters - well, this is the play-offs and every quarter is like a fourth quarter and it looks like Chicago will be aggressive and let their QB go for it.

  7. End of the first quarterpublished at 01:42 GMT 11 January

Green Bay Packers 7-3 Chicago Bears

Chicago line up to go for it on fourth down but they're just trying to tempt the Packers defence to jump - and they almost do but just about keep their nerve as the clock hits zeroes for the first quarter.

A lively start at Soldier Field then with two decent scoring drives in the books, it's shaping up to be quite the contest already.

If Chicago need a response, then Caleb Williams has proven in his second season he is the man to provide it.

His rookie year wasn’t ideal as Chicago fired their head coach mid-season but unlike Matt Eberflus, his successor Ben Johnson is an offensive coach.

Williams struggled to get used to Johnson and his tough-love approach during training camp but the pair have developed an effective relationship through the season.

Williams is looking after the ball better and, at times, Johnson has challenged him to showcase his arm strength, such as his walk-off touchdown pass to DJ Moore to beat Green Bay in overtime.

The former number one draft pick has set a franchise record of 3,942 passing yards, is sixth in the league with 27 touchdowns and has thrown just seven interceptions, although his completion rate is 58.1%, way down on the league leader Drake Maye (72.0%).

Williams has also become known as ‘the Iceman’ for his ability to stay calm under pressure, leading the Bears to six game-winning drives. He may need another tonight if they're to get the better of Green Bay.

What a response after the field goal and a long-drive by the Bears. All the talk was of whether Jordan Love would be rusty after three games out - he looked like he was in mid-season form there.

What a start for Jordan Love on his return to the team - showing again that he's taken another step forward in his third season since succeeding Aaron Rodgers as Green Bay’s starting quarterback.

He’s been composed and efficient, throwing 23 touchdown passes compared to just six interceptions, with a completion rate of 66.3% in the regular season.

Green Bay have also been effective on third down, with only San Francisco having a better conversion rate than the Packers (48.78%).

Love also has experience on his side as Green Bay were the seventh seed when they knocked out second seed Dallas on Wildcard Weekend two years ago, before almost upsetting top seed San Francisco.

However, the 27-year-old has missed some time through injury and returns today after missing the past two games because of a concussion he suffered in the Packers’ week 16 loss in Chicago.

  12. touchdown

Touchdown - Packerspublished at 01:33 GMT 11 January

Green Bay Packers 7-3 Chicago Bears

Brilliant start for Green Bay as they score a touchdown on the opening drive thanks to Jordan Love hitting the speedy Christian Watson to race in at the right corner.

The Bears bite on the play-action and Love runs out to his right before throwing the ball to Watson who is steaming across the field and he's just got too much gas for Chicago as he finds the front corner of the end zone.

Nine plays, 85 yards and just under five minutes for that touchdown drive. Statement made.

The Packers only need a yard but Jordan Love gets 33 as he airs out a deep ball to Romeo Doubs who brings in a nice catch down the right sideline.

The Bears special teams come running away from the kick-off return claiming they have the ball, nbut it's still Green Bay's.

Jordan Love gives it to Jayden Reed for a 14-yard run before tight end Luke Musgrave takes a nine-yard catch to set-up a short third down attempt.

Ben Johnson wasn’t expected to hit the ground running and Chicago lost their first two games of the season to divisional rivals Minnesota and Detroit.

Then as second-year quarterback Caleb Williams began to adjust to his new head coach, the Bears won nine of their next 10 games.

They became known as the ‘Cardiac Bears’ for making late fightbacks to clinch narrow victories, most notably in a shootout at Cincinnati in week nine.

Then after losing at Green Bay, Chicago gained revenge in overtime two weeks later, winning a record sixth game in one season after trailing in the final two minutes.

After losing a shootout in San Francisco, the Bears’ offence misfired as they ended the regular season with a second straight defeat, yet they still secured the NFC’s second seed.

  16. 'Credit to the Packers defence'published at 01:24 GMT 11 January

You’ve got to give credit to Green Bay’s defence – this entire game is going to come down to the redzone. Last time out we saw Green Bay go 0-5 in the redzone and it ended up costing them the game. This time it’s the Bears who have to settle for a field goal.

  17. Bears Key Man: Kevin Byardpublished at 01:24 GMT 11 January

Green Bay Packers 0-3 Chicago Bears

The Bears have had four players with more than 650 receiving yards but their defence has also been elite this season.

Not only have they led the league for takeaways (33) but their turnover differential (+22) is five better than any other team (Houston, 17).

Veteran safety Kevin Byard has also led the league with seven interceptions, his most since his second season in 2017, to earn All-Pro selection.

The team that wins the turnover battle tends to win, and in a huge play-off game, the Bears could do with Byard pulling off another pick tonight.

  18. Packers Key Man: Josh Jacobspublished at 01:24 GMT 11 January

After rushing for 1,329 yards in his first season in Green Bay, a thigh injury has limited Josh Jacobs in recent weeks and prevented him from passing 1,000 again (929).

But the 27-year-old says he’s ready to go again and establishing the run game will be crucial for the Packers, not only to give Jordan Love time in the pocket but to pose a red zone threat.

Jonathan Taylor (18) and Derrick Henry (16) are the only running backs to score more rushing touchdowns this season than Jacobs (13), and all-but-one of his have come from short yardage.

  19. field goal

A classy opening drive for the Bears just stalls in the red zone - which is hardly surprising as the Packers have giving up just 26 points from opening drives all season.

Cairo Santos then trots on and chips over a 27 yarder to put Chicago ahead.

Green Bay's defence will be happy to get off the field though after just under eight minutes for their first stint.
