Summary

  1. Nice work from Youngpublished at 22:01 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 Carolina Panthers

Really good from Bryce Young, firing a pass to Tommy Tremble right as he gats smacked and just outside his own end zone as well!

After that completion Young then hits Jalen Coker for the first down - that's a great conversion having been second and 19.

  2. Sack!published at 21:58 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young gets sacked by Poona Ford, who was somehow allowed to race in free at one of the smallest QBs in the league before taking him down for a second sack of the game.

  3. Stuffed!published at 21:57 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 Carolina Panthers

Sean McVay opts for a run on third down but Blake Corum gets stuffed by the Panthers run defence and the Rams have to punt.

  4. Postpublished at 21:52 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 Carolina Panthers

Puka Nacua takes his fourth catch of the game, short of the first down marker but this YAC monster has no problems beating a couple of tacklers to move the sticks.

Nacua led the league this season with 666 yards after the catch.

  5. Panthers puntpublished at 21:51 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young overthrows his receiver Tetairoa McMillan who had thrown a nifty double move in and had his defender beaten.

Carolina punt and it's a beauty, a high hanging 55-yarder into the wind that pens the Rams back inside their own 10.

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 Carolina Panthers

A couple of doses of Chuba Hubbard for the Panthers as they move the chains with a run for a first down before he catches and short pass over the middle for about seven yards.

    Better stuff this from Carolina.

  8. 'McVay's trying to move Nacua around'published at 21:45 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 Carolina Panthers

    Greg Olsen
Former NFL tight end on Fox Sports

Sean McVay is one of the best offensive minds in football. He understands there's going to be a lot of eyeballs on Puka Nacua so he's trying to move him around.

That time he aligns in the backfield, in a traditional running back set, and you just don't get the same match-ups and checks in the secondary. He just runs right through zone coverage and that's a nightmare start for the Panthers.

  9. Stat Attack: Panthers poor points differencepublished at 21:45 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams @ Carolina Panthers

    Carolina Panthers

Carolina's points difference of -69 ranked 23rd in the NFL this season and is the fourth worst for a team ever to make the play-offs.

The only teams worse were the 2004 Rams (-73), 2011 Broncos (-81) and the 2010 Seahawks (-97). Amazingly though, each of the previous three won their wildcard game!

Puka Nacua catches a 14-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford and a perfect start for the Rams!

Nacua starts in the backfield and then comes storming through the coverage, dropping a shoulder to move the defence and then getting himself pretty much wide open in the end zone.

Stafford averages 300 yards a game in the play-offs - he needed just 40 there to open the scoring, with Nacua accounting for all 40 of those yards on his three catches.

    What a start!

Two catches for Puka Nacua so far and two first downs.

  12. 'Panthers have to go for it on fourth downs'published at 21:39 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams 0-0 Carolina Panthers

    Greg Olsen
Former NFL tight end on Fox Sports

You have to go for it [on fourth down] as an underdog. You have to try to use every down to maintain possession and keep this high-powered Matthew Stafford offensive off the field.

  13. Key Men: Rams star wideoutspublished at 21:38 GMT 10 January

LA's dynamic receiving duo of Puka Nacua and Davante Adams could be the best tandem in the NFL and if they go off tonight they could go a long way to settling this game.

With 1,715 yards, Nacua finished second in the NFL this season and he also scored 10 touchdowns and took some unbelievable catches. With 666 yards after the catch he led the NFL as the YAC champion showcasing his incredible strength.

Adams is a touchdown machine and finished top of the NFL with 14 despite missing three games - he's almost impossible to stop one-on-one down in the red zone.

  14. Turnover on downs!published at 21:38 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams 0-0 Carolina Panthers

The Panthers went three-for-three on fourth downs against the Rams last time including two touchdowns - but this time Bryce Young can't convert and the Rams get the ball on downs with a short field.

Already a different story to the first meeting...

  15. Fourth down...published at 21:37 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams 0-0 Carolina Panthers

The Panthers get to a fourth and one and obviously they go for it, as nobody goes for it more than the Carolina Panthers.

  16. Key Man: Rampant Ricopublished at 21:34 GMT 10 January

Panthers running back Rico Dowdle had some monster games this season, winning plenty of fantasy contests no doubt.

Chuba Hubbard led Carolina with 83 rushing yards against the Rams last time, with Dowdle earning just 58, but he's had games of 206, 183 and 130 yards this season showing that one he gets into a groove he's so hard to stop.

If Carolina get him rolling then that'll help them control the clock, control the ball and stand a chance of the upset.

The Carolina Panthers finished the season 8-9 yet they're at home against the 12-5 Rams because they managed to back into a division title in the poor NFC South.

Should that be the case though? Surely a team that's done so well and managed to get 12 wins should be the home team and not be punished for being in a tougher division?

  20. Rams-Panthers predictionspublished at 21:27 GMT 10 January

Los Angeles Rams @ Carolina Panthers

    Rams v Panthers

    Phoebe Schecter: Rams

The Rams are one of the Super Bowl favourites and I think their defence is going to be the final nail in the coffin for Carolina.

Matt Stafford is one of the leading MVP contenders and Puka Nacua leads the league for receptions. He's just so physical in taking contested catches. His one-handed catches are incredible.

The Rams have struggled in the red zone in recent weeks without Davante Adams but he's set to come back so, for me, it's a clear Rams win.

    Paul Higham: Rams

The Panthers pitched a perfect game in their Week 13 win over LA - Bryce Young had the second highest QB rating in team history and threw two of his three TD passes on fourth downs.

Stafford threw two interceptions, one going for a pick six, and a fumble killed the game - I can't see lightning striking twice.

    Ben Collins: Rams

Carolina may have edged that one but they've won just one out of four games since to stumble into the post-season with a losing record.

Sure, LA have also lost two of their last three, but Davante Adams and veteran tight end Tyler Higbee are both now back from injury, and I think the one-two of Puka Nacua with the deep threat and Adams in the red zone will finally knock out the Panthers.
