  1. "Charles I don't think I can do it."published at 12:31 GMT 20 March 2025

Can Jamie make it to the end of his fourth ultra marathon?

    Charlie Hedges
    Presenter, BBC Radio 1

Jamie's really struggling, he just said to me off camera, away from everyone, 'Charles I don't think I can do it.'

Keep sending your messages in, your messages of support, even if you can't donate, is what is keeping Jamie going. I've heard it for myself. He's acknowledging your support. He's in bits.

If I’m being completely honest I’ve probably struggled with accepting love. I don’t know why man, I just have. Maybe my make up, the way I’m built? So the love that’s coming in is overwhelming, that’s probably my kryptonite.

    Charlie Hedges
    Presenter, BBC Radio 1

Charlie Hedges is out on the road and has just witnessed the scenes from Jamie's latest pit stop in Derby. She's reporting back to Rickie & Melvin in the Radio 1 studio:

Charlie: "I want to be real and honest with you all, Jamie is a broken man. When he was laying down earlier on getting a massage, the noises that are coming out of that man's mouth because he's in so much pain, it's heartbreaking."

"It's so horrible to watch but just to watch this man push through all pain, I've got so much respect for him"

"You wouldn't realise the pain he's in until he stops and walks."

New drone footage shows Jamie Laing running in the remote countryside, with just a pace setter and his own thoughts for company.

Jamie has received huge support from the UK, with people creating handmade signs, shouting support in the streets, and welcoming him at pit stops. But this drone footage reveals the isolation of Jamie's challenge - the second-by-second grind of his epic 30 mile runs.

Greg James says of the amazing footage: "It gave me the first look at just how much of this you're doing on your own, with nobody around you."

Jamie admits: "A lot of this is running next to fields, one foot in front of the other. It's quite a solo mission."

  5. Jamie's Made in Chelsea buddy JP has arrived at just the right timepublished at 11:31 GMT 20 March 2025

To help Jamie push through and get to the finish line in Matlock on what looks like his toughest day yet, Jamie's good pal JP has arrived to motivate him.

Here's what he had to say to Rickie, Melvin & Charlie on what's helping Jamie the most:

JP: "Keep being vulnerable, these sorts of challenges can be so misleading, and even experiencing what he's been through today, I can't tell you how proud I am. Everyone's support, it just makes such a difference getting [him] through those hard moments."

Jamie's friend JP speaks to Jamie as they're both bent over with their hands on their knees.

    Radio 1's Ultra Marathon Man

You know when you stub your toe like really badly and you want to scream at the door, it’s like that but a million times over.

It’s basically like banging your foot and knees and everything against a door, all day long, as hard as you can and then having to go again.

I’m really hoping this is the worst part of the day!

We're now sitting at over half a million pounds, it's blown my mind a little bit. I'm genuinely shocked that we've managed to do so much together in that short space of time.

Hats off to you - if I had a hat I'm taking it off!

At every single point I think I'm going to give up, as I came in here I thought I don't think I can do this anymore, and then something like this happens, something like this where I get an update, people have donated and suddenly you get some endorphins, some energy, something in your muscles that just goes come on you can do this!

  14. An incredible morning, but let's not forget how much can still be achievedpublished at 09:59 GMT 20 March 2025

Jamie can't hide how tough he's finding it

Before Jamie found out he'd raised over half a million, he was actually being sick on the side of a road.

Matt Edmondson reported: "He’s on his hands and knees on the side of the road, palms in gravel. It’s a monstrous morning out there."

"It’s worse than yesterday," Jamie admits. "I didn’t think it could get any worse."

"I screamed while going under a tunnel earlier, and there was a poor lady walking her dog who I hadn't seen, so I had to apologise."

Over £450k has been raised, which means that Greg James will be running alongside Jamie Laing in a wedding dress tomorrow!

We hope that will put a big spring in the step of Jamie today. Radio 1 listeners really stepped up to the challenge.

The forfeit had some very specific detail, however: Jamie would also have to bite Greg's wedding garter with his teeth - as if this week hadn't been tough enough for our Ultra Marathon Man.

"All hail the Great British Garter Gobble," says one listener.

We've even heard from Greg's actual wife, Bella Mackie.

She says: "I want people to donate, because I want to see you in a wedding dress. Also since I proposed to you, I guess it's only fair that you get to dress up and have a special day, because I didn't even buy you a ring."

Will listeners have raised enough by 9.30am? We'll find out very soon.
