Meanwhile, Radio 1 listeners are trying to raise enough money by 9.30am - over £450k - that Greg James will have to wear a wedding dress while running alongside Jamie, as a very funny forfeit.

So it's a mix of the silly and the inspiring on Radio 1 this morning.

  7. A forfeit for Greg James?published at 08:23 GMT 20 March 2025

His fate will be decided by 9.30am

In the spirit of keeping Jamie smiling, Matt Edmondson has decided to enact revenge on Greg James.

On Tuesday, Greg and his listeners helped raise enough donations for Comic Relief, that Matt Edmondson's beloved trusty scooter was crushed - as a forfeit.

    Media caption,

Greg James sets a challenge for listeners to raise enough money to crush Matt's scooter

Matt's been stewing on this ever since, so he's ordered in some costumes, and he's set listeners a challenge.

If £375k is raised, Radio 1's Nat O'Leary will wear a shellsuit costume and run a leg with Jamie.

If £400k is raised, Dean McCullough will have to wear a Harry Houdini costume - a nod to his I'm A Celeb! moments last year.

If £450k is raised by 9.30am, Greg will have to run alongside Jamie in a full wedding dress. "It has a veil, a garter, and Jamie will remove that garter with his teeth - this is part of the deal."

Greg: "Why is that part of the deal?"

    Matt: "It just is."

It's down to the Radio 1 listeners to see who does the undignified running.

  8. "Like trying to move a mannequin" - Matt's description of Jamie this morningpublished at 08:17 GMT 20 March 2025

    Matt Edmondson
    Radio 1 presenter

His body is the worst it's been, obviously. It's like trying to move a mannequin, he's stiffened up everywhere.

It felt really cruel this morning because they got him to the gym at the hotel and put him on a cross trainer - so he's done a workout before an ultra marathon.

He is in such a bad way... But mentally this morning, the power of friendship and love really came through. His 'bestie crowd' turned up and it was a beautiful thing. It's changed something in his brain where he's like: 'Maybe I can do this.'

  10. Jamie is feeling triumphant, but he knows there's a long way to gopublished at 07:56 GMT 20 March 2025

"I will do anything not to do this today, but I’ve got to get it done"

Greg James - The adventure was always going to unfold, but it is it surprising you with how joyful it can get, how devastatingly low you can get?

Jamie - I can’t explain the different emotions. One minute you won’t be able to put one foot forward, all your body will be saying stop. And then you have moments of complete euphoria. Some moments of irritation, moments of sadness. A rollercoaster of emotions at every single point.

Greg - You’re going through all the emotions of life but in one 24-hour period.

Jamie - So overwhelming, I cannot even begin to explain.

Greg - Do you realise that you’ve just done three ultra marathons?

Jamie - Well the problem is we’ve got two more to go… I will do anything not to do this today, but I’ve got to get it done.

  11. Three ultra marathons done ✅ Two to go 😬published at 07:53 GMT 20 March 2025

Good morning and welcome to Day 4 of our Ultra Marathon Man challenge.

Jamie went from complete desolation to total euphoria yesterday, conquering 'hump day' of the challenge.

He's woken up today in fine spirits, even if his body says otherwise. "My ankle is really swollen, my leg is swollen, so we’re just trying to ease in before we run another ultra marathon."

"Yesterday feels like a bit of a blur. I didn’t really know where I was, but listening back is making me emotional in so many ways."

Watch a recap of Day 3 below, including the triumphant moment he arrived at Loughborough uni to meet hundreds of cheering supporters and his wife Sophie Habboo.

Many call Wednesday 'hump day', and this was certainly a day full of hills to climb for Jamie - physically and mentally. But he's completed the third day of his challenge, he's over halfway through with two more ultra marathons to go.

Today got off to a rocky start, with Jamie telling Greg James he wasn't sure he could complete the challenge. Thanks to lots of encouragement from the Radio 1 listeners Jamie managed to get moving on his journey from Market Harborough to Loughborough.

Emotions were running high, with Jamie in lots of pain and a mammoth day ahead of him. After hearing messages from the Radio 1 listeners, particularly one from Mariella who benefitted from the difference Comic Relief can make to people's lives, a teary Jamie powered on to start the day's run.

The first surprise of the day was from two 100% faithfuls - Leanne and Jake. What more could you need when running an ultra marathon than the two winners of The Traitors? Especially when you've got Leanne who was in the actual army. They ran with Jamie for 8 miles, giving him a much needed pep talk along the way.

He eventually made it to the official halfway point in Leicester, but things were looking bleak. An extremely tired Jamie could barely stand and fell to the ground as soon as he got there.

Thankfully, hype-man Matt Edmondson was on hand to offer his support, and motivational messages from the Radio 1 listeners continued to flood in.

Then just when he needed it most, long-time friend Proudlock surprised Jamie and his reaction was priceless. It was a moving moment, and it gave Jamie the boost he needed to keep going with him saying "I think I can do the rest of it, let's go."

Proving yet again the power of friendship to make the impossible possible.

And then just like that, he'd done it! After an incredibly gruelling day for our ultra marathon man, Jamie reached the finish line in Loughborough, where Vick and Jerry were waiting for him.

For such an emotional day, the biggest tearjerker was hearing Jamie see his wife, Sophie, at the finish line. After seeing Jamie in tears earlier that day, Sophie couldn't wait any longer to come and see him.

Time for some well-earned rest before Jamie attempts to take on the fourth ultra marathon of this incredible challenge.

  16. Jamie's perfect post-run replenishment? A glass of elderflower and a scotch egg. Hmm.published at 17:19 GMT 19 March 2025

Jamie: Honestly, if I could go in the foetal position right now just by myself that would be lovely, next to a glass of elderflower.

Vick: Can someone get this man a glass of elderflower?

Jamie: And like a scotch egg. That's all I want to do.

    Radio 1's Ultra Marathon Man

As he debriefed on the day with Vick & Jerry, they wanted to know what it was that kept Jamie going. Looking back, he revealed just how close he was to throwing in the towel

Jamie: "There was a point today where we were about halfway, 25 kilometres in, we were in Leicester and I just didn't think I had it. That was it. I was done.

    Vick: "Would you have stopped?"

Jamie: "There was part of me that was like 'I don't think I can do this', if my mindset doesn't shift or my pain doesn't go. Everything was just so overwhelming and I just lay down and thought 'God, I'm going to let everyone down'. This is going to be terrible. And I thought this isn't going to work."

Despite the pain and doubt, he's done it, he's completed the third ultra marathon of his challenge. Go Jamie!
