  5. Star of CBBC doc performs tonightpublished at 18:14

    Tonight 15 year-old composer Shane will be playing piano in concert, external with the RNCM Session Orchestra.  They’ll be playing Shane’s own piece ‘Spectrum’, it’s inspired by CBBC! Shane’s story will soon be the subject of a CBBC My Life documentary.  What a talent!

    If you are just joining us, happy BBC Music Day! We're into an evening of wonderful music celebrations.

    A unique relay of 600 musicians on  Hadrian’s Wall of Sound  started at 6am and is due to finish in the next hour. We also have  events in Bristol, Liverpool, Bradford, Plymouth, across Northern Ireland and in Cardiff. 

    Glasgow  hosts a big concert from 8pm, which you can watch live on the BBC Red Button  with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Jamie Cullum. 

    Manic Street Preachers will play to a crowd of 10,000 at Cardiff Castle. and there's a concert taking place in Crumlin Road gaol in Belfast .

    Earlier BBC Radio 3 and Radio Cymru joined forces to break a world record, bridging more than 7,000 miles to set the greatest distance between people singing a duet.

  7. BBC Music Day has reached Liverpoolpublished at 17:14

    A BBC Music Day event is taking place right now until 11pm this evening on the waterfront in Liverpool. Find out more on our  Liverpool page

    BBC Radio Merseyside  have coverage of the event throughout the day.

    BBC North West Tonight  will show highlights of the day including the Connect It performance.

    There will be further coverage on the 6th June: All the Introducing acts highlights will be on  Dave Monks show  on BBC Radio Merseyside as well as  Janice Long 's show on BBC Radio 2.BBC Radio 6 Music will present highlights of Craig Charles' set on his  funk and soul show  at 6pm on Sat 6 June.

    If you are just joining us, happy BBC Music Day! It's been a busy day so far with much more still to come!

    Just about to start in the foyer of Bristol’s iconic Colston Hall is another of our BBC Music Day concerts.

    Conductor Charles Hazlewood and members of the world renowned British Paraorchestra will perform four original pieces alongside youth and adult choirs from across the West Country. This collaboration includes young people with special educational needs and disabilities who will be performing on custom built instruments using new assistive technology.
