  2. What's happening in Bradford?published at 09:26

The stage is set (literally) in Bradford’s City Park, which will play host to a wide variety of ensembles later today with wind bands, choirs and orchestras performing alongside local acts from BBC Introducing.

More than 732 school children from schools across Bradford will come together for the first time to perform BBC Music Day Ambassador Anna Meredith's  composition 'Connect It' - a mass body percussion piece.

BBC Radio 3 will also feature a special broadcast of 'In Tune' live from the Kala Sangam Arts Centre at 16:30, featuring a collaboration between the BBC Philharmonic players and members of the South Asian Arts organisation.

    Ear-opening stuff.

    Quote Message

I think it's really important that people can get involved in music in their communities, because it's a great way to meet people and learn about music be it as a listener or as a performer. Music is such a powerful force, it's one of the few things that will bring people together under a common theme.

    Ghostpoet

We have a number of BBC Music Day ambassadors including the awesome Ghostpoet (above), Sir Tom Jones, Lulu, Jamie Cullum, Pixie Lott, Kanika Kapoor and Shlomo.

Check out interviews with them in the 'Highlights' tab and click here to read why they are supporting BBC Music Day.

    Mary Bell

BBC Music Day isn't just about events taking place along Hadrian's Wall, we're also celebrating Unsung Heroes from local communities across the UK.

Five winners, including Mary Bell (above), have been selected by a BBC panel after being nominated by members of the public, and will all receive a BBC Music VIP Pass, giving them and their friends tickets to a major BBC Music event of their choice, from the BBC Proms to the BBC Music Awards to the Radio 2 Folk Awards and beyond.

And they really deserve it - click here to find out why.

But they are very deserving. Four have already been announced, and the final winner will be revealed during Steve Wright in the Afternoon on BBC Radio 2 later today.

  17. Could there be a World Record today?published at 07:44

BBC Music Day in Cardiff will feature a World Record attempt later on (as well as live performances from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and a homecoming show from seminal Welsh band the Manic Street Preachers).

As part of celebrations marking 150 years since the first Welsh settlers left for Patagonia, Shan Cothi in Wales and Andres Evans 7000 miles away, will attempt to break the World Record for The Greatest Distance Between Singers of a Duet.

Who knew that was a thing?
