A sense of shock as Miesha Tate announces she's retiring from the UFC after her loss to her former teammate. That was hugely unexpected, and she admits that the fight made her mind up for her.
A unanimous decision from the judges as Raquel Pennington defeats her former coach to open UFC 205. A fourth win on the spin for the Colorado-based fighter against the number one contender in the women's bandamweight devision.

The hooter sounds to mark the end of the fight, and Raquel Pennington will be delighted with that performance. She emerges from the fight virtually unmarked, and the reaction of both women indicates they know this was a big win for Pennington.

It’s been a rollercoaster 12 months for the bantamweight women’s division.
Here we are, almost a year to the day since Ronda Rousey stepped into the cage at UFC 193 the undefeated champion. Since then, we’ve had three new title-holders.
Among them was Miesha Tate.
After submitting Rousey’s giantslayer Holly Holm in March to win the title, Tate was then tapped out by Amanda Nunes at UFC 200.
One of the best grapplers in women’s MMA, she’s looking for a win here to get back in title contention – not least because Rousey returns to action to face Nunes in December.
Meanwhile Raquel Pennington, her opponent tonight, was one of Tate’s team members on the Ultimate Fighter reality TV show a couple of years ago, losing an emotional fight in the semi-finals to Jessica Rakoczy.
Pennington has had mixed fortunes since then, but three wins on the spin have put her into the top ten rankings - and beating her former coach would put her into the title mix.
