  1. In playpublished at 09:05 GMT 4 March 2016

    Shearer 5s 253-230 Savage 5s

Now the real work starts for Shearer. He's actually got to play.

A lovely side-footed strike from one of his team-mates has given his side an early 2-1 lead.

Alan's just barking instructions from the back at the moment.

    That's not how it works....

  2. Game overpublished at 09:00 GMT 4 March 2016

"Finish on a goal! Finish on a goal!" shouts Alan Shearer from the sidelines.

There was no late flurry (bar the snow) but Shearer's side have just nabbed victory in the first session of his 12-hour spell - it ended 11-7.

You can also head down to MediaCity in Salford to support, there are two covered stands and plenty of free seats. It's still snowing at the moment, but the forecast is a lot brighter between now and the final whistle at 6.14pm tomorrow.

  4. Shearer in the leadpublished at 08:57 GMT 4 March 2016

    Shearer 5s 250-229 Savage 5s

It was Robbie Savage's boys who had the overall lead going into the overnight session but Alan Shearer's 5s are well and truly bossing it now with a 250-229 aggregate score.

And it's Shearer's boys who are leading 12-7 in the game currently in session in Salford. There's nut-megging, there are back-heels, we've got it all.

Make sure you're tuned in online (at the top of this page) or on the Red Button.

    Shearer 5s 245-226 Savage 5s

Alan Shearer is in full voice out on the pitch for the first game of his 12 hour stint.

He's doing some reffing/coaching/encouragement for two teams from the Premier League hub of the community project - MCMA v Middleton.

It's his lads who are winning - Shearer 5s lead 8-4 over Savage 5s at half-time.

    And yes, it's still snowing.

  8. How to donate to Sport Reliefpublished at 08:43 GMT 4 March 2016

It's why we're all here playing footy in the snow and talking to you about the people playing footy in the snow!

You can show your support by donating to Sport Relief here, external

£25 could enable a disadvantaged child in Bangladesh to take part in sports activities for a year, improving their health, wellbeing and confidence.

£50 could pay for a disadvantaged young person in the UK to go on a sports coaching course giving them the skills they need to find work.

£70 could train a volunteer to run football and HIV awareness sessions for young people in a South African township.

Any amount, however small, will help make a difference. This video explains where your money goes...

A huge shout-out goes to Abigail, Kerry and Lottie - a group of McFly Super Fans who have been stood outside ALL NIGHT to support Danny in the challenge.

We've brought them into the 5 live studios for a cuppa so they can thaw out.

    Fantastic support, ladies.

  13. Savage having pant problemspublished at 08:27 GMT 4 March 2016

Danny Jones is nearly ready to sub off, with Alan Shearer taking his place for the endurance challenge.

The duo have just had a chat on the pitch.

"It's been such a rollercoaster of emotions," said Danny. "I'm so sore. I spoke to Savage and he said he couldn't even get his undies on."

"I was on my 15th pair of socks at one point. The quality of football has been amazing. I scored a few, maybe 16."

That image of Savage will remain with us for a while...

    Shearer 5s 239-225 Savage 5s

Out on the snow-drenched pitch now we have Broadoak High School v Manchester Health Academy. Danny's still reffing and keeping them in order.

Shout out to the keeper on Savage's team who's in short sleeves. Obviously a proper northerner. His side lead 3-2.
