Jamaican star OMI is up for song of the year with his summer anthem Cheerleader.
Amazingly, the song came to him eight years ago as a 21-year-old, setting him on a long, slow path to success.
"I wouldn't change the journey for the world," he says. "Getting recognition for your work is the ultimate for any musician.
"If I should win tonight, it would be ending the year with a bang - literally."
The singer's stellar 2015 has also included an appearance on Taylor Swift's 1989 tour, followed by a flight on her private jet.
So what was it like inside?
"Wooden finish, leather, the whole works," he says. "It was very comfortable. The whole ambience was good."

Years and Years are playing their first ever British awards show later... and singer Olly Alexander say they have something special up their sleeves.
"It's not quite Geri Halliwell emerging from between a pair of stilettoed legs at the Brits," he laughs. "But it's amazing. We've worked out choreography and a dance routine.
"Hopefully I won't fall flat on my face."
The pop band got a big boost when they won the BBC Sound of 2015 in January.
"It changed our lives," said bassist Mikey Goldsworthy. "We got so much busier because of you."
