| Abba were Sweden's most successful export of the 70s. Bigger than
Volvo cars and IKEA. Their wardrobes however rarely reflected their
millionaire status. From satin capes and cheerleading skirts for Agnetha
and Frida to the satin, off-white, skewed, superhero jumpsuits that
Benny and Bjorn favoured. The costumes were designed by Swedish designer
Owe Sandstrom. Ironic really because the effect was like being caught
in a sandstorm (check Frida's unruly perm for proof).
OK, we won't lie. It's not going to be easy to pick up the boys'
satin superhero jumpsuits with front loading zips that enable you
to display a manly thatch of chest hair. They're too embarrassing
even for a car boot sale. So opt instead for Bjorn's flared, silver
lined jacket, pictured here, singlet vest and jaunty, Roger Moore
style white cravat and white flares. Bjorn had obviously been watching
one too many episodes of The Persuaders.
Meanwhile you could probably emulate Frida's look here with a cheap,
customised white dressing gown while Agnetha's bell bottoms and
tie-dyed T-shirt should be relatively easy to come by. But please.
Don't use your love of the progressive thinking Swedish superstars
as an excuse for some kind of suburban swingers party and don't
go around asking if the sauna is "nice and steamy" yet.

| You'll have no trouble in the crowd as the Cadillac-like fins on
your jacket should ensure no one can get near you. |

| I hope youre not going out to find some of that free
love Ive been hearing so much about dear... |
