Zoe Atkin has got the height there that she wants. A standard and pretty classic qualifying run from Zoe Atkin.

She is comfortably shifting into first place. Job done for Atkin.

As soon as Zoe Atkin finished that run, her mum, Winnie, ran over to the front of the family pen to be the first to greet her.

She greets her with a big hug, while sister Izzy is along the fans with a cardboard cut out of Zoe’s face.

That was a solid run from Zoe Atkin.

It wasn't too risky, but it was clean and she is given a very good score of 91.50.

That propels her all the way to the top of the leader board and has probably secured her qualification to Saturday's final.

So the Swiss opted to blank the opening end so that they can keep the hammer into the second. Why would they do that? BBC Sport commentator Logan Gray explains...

"Your aim when you've got the hammer is to score at least two. So often, if you're not able to do that with your final stone, you are better 'blanking' the end so you can keep the hammer for the next end, and try to score more than one next time."

Oooft, Grant Hardie wipes out Yannick Schwaller as the two furiously try to sweep different stones out of the house. The Swiss is a big boy but down he goes.

Card marked... and the first end is eventually blanked.

Women's ice hockey final - USA 0-0 Canada

No goals in the first period, although the USA went close to an opener at the very last gasp with Canada's Ella Shelton was in the penalty box.

The USA won their group-stage meeting 5-0 but this one has been a much tighter contest.

Figure Skating - women's free skate

We've had four performers in the free skate so far, each with their share of slips and mistakes.

Switzerland's Livia Kaiser has the highest score of 115.83, which combined with her short program score gives her a combined total of 171.52. That is the number to beat at this stage.

Remember, the running order is the reverse of the leader board from the short program, so Japan's Ami Nakai will be the last to the ice.

Can anyone put in a perfect routine to disrupt the podium? The joy of figure skating is that anything can happen!

Do the curlers do any warm ups before their matches, and how do they keep themselves fuelled up? - Daniel, Isle of Wight

Some will do some 'activation' work in the gym to warm the muscles up before coming out to the ice, while others can be spotted doing assorted jumps, stretches and lunges rinkside.

The Swiss women do all sorts of curious things and I saw one American male player doing a series of sprints up and down the side of the ice sheet.

In terms of fuel, the thing most of the GB players take with them on to the ice are those marshmallow cereal bar things.

They've got the usual energy drinks and bars, too. And the Danish women's rink cracked open a few plastic tubs with nuts, fruits and all sorts the other day. It was pretty much a picnic.

Women's ice hockey final - USA 0-0 Canada

Canada have started this gold medal match well but it remains goalless with five minutes of the first period to play.

Netminder Aerin Frankel has been called upon a couple of times to keep the United States level with excellent saves.

And the Americans have got another two-minute power play to survive as Joy Dunne is sent to the penalty box for a tripping offence.

Australia's India Brown, who is just 16-years-old, is second to take on the halfpipe.

She is widely regarded as one of the next big things in freestyle skiing and you can see why after that first run.

It was clean and it gives her a score of 80.75. She will be happy with that.

Compared to previous nights at the halfpipe, there’s not the biggest crowd for these women’s qualifiers.

It is snowing again, but that’s not stopping the cheers from those who have braved the weather.

The slippers have been down the pipe, clearing the loose snow, and the blue sight lines are being re-painted just before the competition starts.

    Men's curling semi-final - GB v Switzerland (18:35 GMT)

    Richard Winton
    BBC Sport Scotland in Cortina

Great Britain and Switzerland have just been introduced to the crowd.

This one promises to be a belter.

These two are arguably the best two teams in the world and fought out an extra-end epic in the round robin, one the Swiss just edged.

This is when it really matters, though. Just like last April in the World Championship final, which Bruce Mouat's rink won 5-4.

The Swiss played this morning, and on this sheet, so that arguably gives them an advantage. So does starting with the hammer as the higher-seeded team. But the Scottish quartet have been given a second chance and will be determined to take it.
