Team GB's Mia Brookes just missed out on a medal in the women's snowboard big air final, taking fourth after an ambitious final jump.

She's just gone sixth in the slopestyle qualifying, and will hope to improve significantly on her score of 38.11 on run 1. Her GB team-mate Maisie Hill goes 11th.

This is big! Huw Nightingale and Charlotte Bankes have looked absolutely brilliant out there.

Avoid a crash in the final and there's a very good chance they could come away with GB's second medal of the Games.

We've got one more semi-final to go before that, though.

    Stunning from Federica Brignone!

The crowd go wild as the Italian wins her second gold at this Olympic Games - from double leg break last April to double Olympic champion!

Norway's Thea Louise Stjernesund and Sweden's Sara Hector are quickly over to congratulate Brignone, both getting down on their knees and bowing before her.

Stjernesund and Hector will both get silver medals after figuring with exactly the same time, 0.62 back from Brignone, and there will be no bronze medallist.

Disappointment for Sofia Goggia as a slight error late on sees her drop from third after the first run to eighth.

She had looked on course to push for the gold medal position until that late slip.

Delight for Norway's Thea Louise Stjernesund and Sweden's Sara Hector - they remain tied for gold and can't hide their joy, jumping up and down in celebration.

Lara Duerr of Germany can't overhaul them either so it is only Italy's Federica Brignone who can deny them...

Rebecca Morrison was excellent against Canada on Saturday and it looks like she's brought the good gear again today. A composed final stone by the Team GB lead brings up a score of two in the first end and sets them on their way against the unbeaten Swedes.

Charlotte Bankes needs to take this easy. She's comfortable in second, but she's upped the intensity and going for the win.

And she gets it! GB are into the final!

Charlotte Bankes tweaking her bindings last minute is doing nothing for my nerves here.

Can she grab a top-two finish to reach the final?

    GO, GO, GO.

Brilliant from Nightingale - absolutely brilliant.

That is the best run we've seen him do on this course.

Brilliant from Huw Nightingale! He crosses the line in second, 0.03 seconds behind Frenchman Loan Bozzolo.

But the big news is that Switzerland's Kalle Koblet crashed out midway down and now his team-mate Noemie Wiedmer now has a huge 4.03 seconds to make up.

Over to Charlottte Bankes, who is getting a new board sorted before the start gates drop. There's screwdrivers involved!

Here we go again. Off goes GB's Huw Nightingale in the yellow bib.

I think the main thing is that he keeps himself upright. Easier said than done, but we've just seen what Charlotte Bankes can do and how much ground she can make up.

  14. A tie for the lead!published at 13:19 GMT 15 February

Alpine skiing - women's giant slalom

    Would you believe it?!

Norway's Thea Louise Stjernesund and Sweden's Sara Hector were tied after the first run - and they're tied after the second as well. Joint gold medal position...

Stjernesund makes an error late in her run that seems to put an end to her medal hopes but somehow she gets it back to take the lead... only for Hector to match her time on the very next run.

They both crossed the line 0.05 seconds quicker than Lara Della Mea.

Italy's gold medal hopes are not over, of course. Both Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone are still to go.

My heart is pounding. An incredible second race from Charlotte Bankes.

Her pedigree of riding, her world-class riding shone through there. She stayed so strong because she was so far behind in the beginning but she loves the chase. She didn't panic.

The British crowd was going crazy.

There will be no third Olympic gold medal for Mikaela Shiffrin today.

The American completes her second run in sixth place. She'll be back for the women's slalom in a couple of days' tme.

Six athletes to go and Italy's Lara Della Mea still leads...

Onto the semi-finals we go. GB's Huw Nightingale and Charlotte Bankes will be in the first one.

Wow that was brilliant from Charlotte Bankes! What a move - reminded me of when Lewis Hamilton did a similar move when he did a double overtake at the British Grand Prix in 2022. Fantastic. Cmon GB!!

BBC Sport commentator and former elite curler

Emma in Ascot is wondering if a pair of curling shoes has two different soles, or are they normal shoes with an additional clip on ‘slidey’ base?

So, Emma, most of them will wear either bespoke curling shoes or adapted trainers, but the key thing is the quarter-inch Teflon plate on the bottom of the sliding foot - left for right-handers and vice versa - to help them glide.

Sometimes that will be a single plate right down the length of the sole, but most elite players will have two separate discs to allow a bit more movement of the foot.

The other foot will just have a grippy rubber sole, principally so you don't fall over...

You might also notice that the sweepers have a silicone tip on toe of their dominant foot - that's to reduce friction when they are chasing the stone down the ice.

A photo finish! Italy's Michela Moioli was the last to drop in, but she somehow manages to make up enough ground to finish first and avoid the chaos behind.

France and the Czech Republic look like they've crossed the line at the exact same time, but the slow-motion replays show it was France.
