    We have a new leader!

Ami Nakai of Japan, who is a debutant on the tour this season, has stormed to the top with a score of 78.71, for a sparkling routine.

She was absolutely delighted, smiling broadly throughout and punching the air at the end.

A real marker laid down by the 17-year-old - SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD.

    So here's how it stands...

Switzerland are through. Canada have joined them.

And there's a four-way fight for the final two semi-final places. Italy, Norway, United States and Great Britain are scrapping it out. Each have four wins but the latter two have one fewer game to play.

All Bruce Mouat and his boys can do is beat the US on Wednesday and see what happens elsewhere, with the final round-robin matches on Thursday morning.

An enormous shot here for Bruce Mouat, just as the arena explodes with joy as Italy beat the United States.

Can the GB skip keep his shape? He cannot and that's it all over. Canada steal and the British quartet - world champions, don't forget - are in all sorts of bother in these Olympics.

Why are the GB curlers not putting stones into the house early, including removing opposition stones, which seems to put themselves under so much pressure with the last 1 or 2 stones.

    Mark, Crewe

This is the worst tournament GB men’s curlers have played , so many bad plays and misses. Time for a big rethink and reset.

    John, Scotland

So frustrating watching the men’s curling team as they are clearly a top team. We are edging games and then they’ll make one bad final choice a match that gives the opposition 3 or more shots and suddenly there’s no chance of a result. Such a shame.

Bobsleigh - two-man (run four - gold medal run)

Team GB's Brad Hall and Leon Greenwood complete their fourth and final run in 56.17 - it's the 10th best time out of 12.

Their overall time is 3:43.43, putting them in fourth place as it stands.

They're probably going to miss out on the top 10 but that performance is mitigated by the injury to Taylor Lawrence and the need to prioritise Saturday's four-man heats.

GB are the supposedly the number one curling team in the world. Lots of excuses being made for them by the commentators but this is elite sport and sometimes you have to face the music. They are folding under pressure.

American figure skater and Ilia Malinin is in the crowd tonight, no doubt to support his compatriots and hope they have a better time on the ice than he did in the men's free skate.

Amber Glenn and Alysa Liu, who won team event gold with Malinin in the early days of the Games, are both in action later.

10 down, 10 to go in the two-man bobsleigh.

Romain Heinrich/Dorian Hauterville (France) and Dave Wesselink/Jelen Franjic (Netherlands) are tied for first place with a time of 3:43.32.

But remember, they compete in reverse order of the standings in run four so the genuine medal contenders are still to come...

When it comes to excuses for requesting an extension to your college deadlines, competing at the Winter Olympics is among the better ones.

Canadian skater Madeline Schizas cited the press release naming her in the squad when asking her tutor for more time on her assignments.

Apparently she has been granted an extension on her sociology coursework, and one hopes her professor is watching tonight.

Norway have lost to Sweden, which is a sliver of good news for Team GB. Oddly, it bumps them up to third in the table, given it only includes completed matches.

The United States look like they might fall to defeat, too, against Italy. Given both of those are also in the semi-final scrap, it's hard to say if that's a good thing of not.
