    Another big-hitter is gone!

Silver medal four years ago but it's a quarter-final exit for France's Chloe Trespeuch this time.

Charlotte Bankes tried to step up [at the start], gets it wrong and the rhythm is gone. She has got it all to do from there.

It's the one title that eludes her, she has won absolutely everything but the Olympics are the sticking point for her.

That is a bitter pill to swallow for the genuine gold medal threat.

Charlotte Bankes' face says it all as the riders line up for a photo afterwards, she can't wait to get out of there.

Sina Siegenthaler of Switzerland blocked her off on the final push for the line and quite possibly cost herself second place in cutting off the Brit.

    I can’t believe that’s happened again.

Charlotte Bankes out in the quarter-finals, just as she was four years ago in Beijing.

She’ll be back in the mixed event with Huw Nightingale, but that is a huge blow and another Team GB medal hope missing out.

    So disappointing for Charlotte Bankes.

She made a late, late push but can't do enough. She finishes fourth and her Olympic medal dreams are over.

Czech Republic's Eva Adamczykova goes through in first with Australia's Josie Baff in second.

Oh no, not a good start from Charlotte Bankes. She's fourth and has plenty of work to do.

Still time to try and put it right.

Charlotte Bankes goes in the first quarter-final in just a couple of minutes' time.

She's up against Australia's Josie Baff, Sina Siegenthaler of Switzerland (again) and Czech Republic's Eva Adamczykova.

Again, it's the top two to progress to the semi-finals.

South Korea have the hammer to start. That means they throw last, which theoretically gives them the ability to dictate the game.

But as GB's men learned to their cost earlier, it doesn't always work out that way. Bruce Mouat's rink started with the hammer but lost four points in the opening end.

Slovakia's Simon Adamov is the first of the 90 competitors to head out in the men's 10km sprint which will see three laps and two visits to the shooting range.

Johan-Olav Botn gets underway at 13:29 - a minute behind team-mate Sturla Holm Langried while France's Eric Perrot is out at 13:24.

Britain's Jacques Jefferies starts at 13:07.

Reigning world champion Michela Moioli is host nation Italy's big hope in this event and she cruises through to the quarter-finals with victory in heat six.

Her bid for a second Olympic title, to add to her gold in 2018, goes on.

France have got plenty contenders for a medal and 20-year-old Lea Casta is chief among them after claiming the Crystal Globe as overall World Cup winner, ahead of Charlotte Bankes, in the 2024-25 campaign.

Casta breezes through in the eight heat. No time to dwell too much on those heats, though, we're going straight into the quarter-finals...

After losing their opening game against China on Thursday, Team GB could really do with getting a win on the board here.

The Koreans finished fourth in the World Championships last spring - two places ahead of the Scottish quartet - so will provide another stiff examination. Will this inexperienced team be up the the test?

It's getting busy on day seven at the Winter Olympics - because we're about to get under with the curling again. Great Britain's women take on South Korea, starting in less than 10 minutes, and for UK viewers, that's live on the Red Button or the 'Watch and listen' tab above.

  14. Botn targets another goldpublished at 12:53 GMT 13 February

    Biathlon - Men's 10km Sprint

Johan-Olav Botn prepares to take a shot during the 20km eventImage source, Getty Images

Starting at 13:00 GMT, this is the shortest non-relay biathlon event on the Olympic programme.

Missed shots mean a penalty loop rather than a one-minute time penalty so this is an event which favours biathletes who can ski quickly.

With the retirement of Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Bo, his compatriot Johan-Olav Botn will be aiming to add to his 20km title which featured a penalty-free performance.

Among his challengers will be 20km bronze medallist Sturla Holm Laegried who hit the headlines when he confessed on live television to cheating on his girlfriend.

If he wins another medal, who knows what he might admit to...

Britain’s sole representative will be Jacques Jeffries, who was 79th in the 20km.

Athletes go off at 30 second intervals with the leading contenders out from around 13:24.

    Cross-Country Skiing - Men's 10km Interval Start Free

Norwegian cross-country skiing superstar Johannes Hosflot Klaebo has been speaking after his gold in the 10km interval start freestyle event. Klaebo's win means he has equalled the all-time Winter Olympic record of eight golds - and is understandably thrilled with his victory.

"It means a lot," he says. "This is the first time I have won a 10k skating [freestyle technique] interval start [including the FIS Cross-Country World Cup or at a championship], so being able to do that here at the Olympics, it’s just amazing, and with the weather and the atmosphere, to kind of have my best day here at the Olympics, it’s special."

The staggered-start format meant Klaebo had to wait after finishing to see if he had won.

"That is the worst part, for sure," he says. "When you start early, you just fight with yourself out there, and when you cross the finish line, it’s all about waiting. Luckily I was able to see that people were losing a little bit at the end there, and to be able to see that I’m first is just crazy.

"I feel now that my shape is really good. I felt that on Sunday [in the skiathlon], and it felt amazing on Tuesday [in the sprint] as well. Today it was even better, so that is amazing."

France's Chloe Trespeuch, silver medallist four years ago, is among the main threats to Charlotte Bankes and she is first across the line in heat three.

She advances alongside Faye Thelen of the US.

Trespeuch's team-mate Julia Nirani-Pereira is another medal contender and she dominates early in heat four. Very impressive performance to establish a big early lead and then hold off the late push from Team USA's Stacy Gaskill.

There was a nasty fall for Korea's Subeen Woo. But she still gets up and finishes the race. Great to see.

I think one of Bankes' biggest strengths is her close proximity racing. She is so comfortable sitting right on top of someone and she showed it there when Sina Sigenthaler made a move on her. She closed the door on her.

Beautfiul win from Bankes, it ws a comfortable win by her standards.
