Luge women's singles - gold medal run
Germany's Merle Fraebel was second after two runs but a big crash early in her third saw her plummet down to 10th.
She responds with a sub-53 fourth run to post a final time of 3:32.172 and take the lead with nine lugers to go.
A top-10 finish guaranteed on her Olympic debut but it could have been so much more.
Ski jumping - mixed team
The first round at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium is under way, with the first group of women taking to the slope first.
This will be an exciting - and possibly chaotic event - with 12 teams, made up of four competitors, set to jump twice each in this first round alone.
As a reminder, four teams were disqualified in the event's debut at the Beijing Games in 2022 for irregularities in their jumpsuits.
Let's see how this one goes then...

Ten down, ten to go. Austria's Hannah Prock is the current leader with a time of 3:32.763.
Here's a reminder of the top 10 after run three. Julia Taubitz will be the last luger down the track.

Maxim Naumov is awarded a season best of 85.65 points for that performance - maybe not enough to get him through, but he put in a great display.
As the scores came in, he held up a picture of his late parents with him as a young child.
They would have been proud to see their boy skate in the Olympics.

Nicely done.
With one stone to go, there's five US yellow stones in view from the camera that overhangs the house, zero Swedish reds.
The Wranaa drop their final throw right where they want it to go 3-2 up.

Maxim Naumov's performance was not perfect - he made a slight slip on triple axel - but it was beautiful.
As he finished, he looked to the sky as the arena erupted.
With a huge smile, looking up with tears in his eyes, he says “thank you” – perhaps to those both inside the arena, and in another place.

We have seen both teams match each other stone-for-stone, right from the start here.
Both teams have frozen right on top and have great draw weight at the minute.
It is just going to be one stone on top of the other. It is definitely a game of cat and mouse at the moment.

It is impossible to imagine what USA skater Maxim Naumov has been through in the last 12 months.
Just over a year ago, his parents - former world champion pairs skaters Vadim Naumov and Evgenia Shishkova - were among 67 people killed in a plane crash in Washington DC. Of those on board the flight, 28 were athletes, coaches or parents connected to US figure skating.
Naumov junior has said that his dream to make Team USA was one of the last things he spoke about with his parents before they were killed.
He has made it to the Olympics, and is about to step out onto the ice.

Latvia's Kendija Aparjode is all smiles as she posts her best run of the competition (52.919) to finish with a time of 3:33.988.
She's guaranteed herself a lowest finish of 17th.
Ski jumping - mixed team
Image source, Getty ImagesFrom 17:45 GMT, the mixed teams will take to the slopes at Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium in Val di Fiemme.
It is only the second time the competition has been held at the Winter Olympics, following a successful debut at the Beijing Games in 2022.
The teams will consist of two women and two men, who will launch themselves down one of two ramps in the hopes of jumping in excess of 140m at top speeds of around 60mph.
They will each have two jumps, with all of their scores being combined for an overall team result.
Distance is the primary thing that matters, but points are also awarded for style to discourage any dangerous techniques.
Norway are the reigning world champions and Slovenia are the reigning Winter Olympic champions - so they will be our ones to watch tonight!

Whereas the previous two ends has seen the majority of the stones landed in the house, this one sees far laid further down.
The Swedes have four red guard stones lined up for the USA's final stone.
Cory Thiesse tries to knock a second stone into the house, but fails and they'll score with just the single stone.
That ties us at 2-2 at the conclusion of the third end.

Germany's Julia Taubitz - multiple world champion, 2025 European singles champion, World Cup leader in five of the past six seasons. She's one run away from her maiden Olympic medal.
Latvia's Elina Bota - a two-time European singles bronze medallist and 18th in this event at the 2022 Olympics. Could she become the first Latvian woman to win a medal in an individual Winter Olympic event?
USA's Ashley Farquharson - 12th in Beijing four years ago.
Two Italians (Verena Hofer and Sandra Robatscher) and USA's Emily Fischnaller - who is married to Italian luger Dominik Fischnaller and considers this her home Olympics - are the best of the rest.

Right, it's time for the fourth and final run in the luge women's singles and medals are on the line.

Image source, Getty ImagesOne of the most eye-catching stories in the build-up to the Games were the travails of Spanish figure skater Tomas-Llorenc Guarino Sabate.
Throughout the 2025-26 season, Sabate has performed to songs from the Minions while wearing a yellow T-shirt and blue overalls, similar to the characters' outfits.
However, at the Olympics it seemed as though Sabate, known for his flamboyant and unusual routines, would have to change his usual routine in the men's singles because of a copyright issue.
But after days of negotiations and online outcry, the issues were sorted and the Minion will skate.
Sabate is fourth on the ice tonight, scheduled at 17.57 GMT.

We did say at the start of this gold medal match that it might be a bit more of a high-scoring affair - and I think we were absolutely right.
Both teams are playing quite offensively at the minute, whereas we had more contrasting styles in the bronze medal match.
We like high-scoring games though, they make things all the more exciting!

Japan’s Yuma Kagiyama, the silver medallist at the last Olympics, outshone Ilia Malinin in the short programme in the team event here, just as he did in December’s Grand Prix Final.
But the American’s superior free programme will always give him leeway - at the recent Grand Prix Final, he was third after the short programme but still finished 30 points clear of the field after the free skate.
If anyone has a chance to stop the Malinin express, it is Kagiyama. His teammate Shun Sato - who came close to denying the Americans in the dramatic team event finale - should also be in the medal mix.

Second end, the United States lay down a guard stone and Sweden immediately knock it away.
Two stones each remaining.
Figure skating - men's singles short programme
Image source, Getty ImagesFrom 17:30 GMT, the short programme in the figure skating men’s singles will take over the Milano Ice Skating Arena.
The short programme is the first of two events in the singles competition, with dancers choosing their own music but delivering routines featuring a number of prescribed elements.
Only the top 24 competitors (out of 29) will qualify to perform their free skate on Friday, with the gold medal awarded to skater with the highest combined score.
USA’s Ilia Malinin – the reigning world champion, who hasn’t been beaten for nearly two-and-a-half years – is the overwhelming favourite and has already claimed team gold in Milan.
Japanese duo Yuma Kagiyama and Shun Sato, Italy’s Daniel Grassl, and France’s Adam Siao Him Fa are also expected to be in the hunt for medals.
And keep an eye out for are Spain’s Tomas Guarino Sabate, who has been at the centre of Minion-gate in the lead up to this event.
