  1. Break point Norriepublished at 10:59 GMT 23 January

    Norrie 5-7 6-4 3-6 0-4 Zverev*

For once, Alexander Zverev doesn't execute his drop shot, putting the ball into the net. "YESSSSSSSSSS" comes a cry from the crowd. I wonder who that individual is supporting...

Zverev follows it up with a double fault: 15-30. Is there a way back for Norrie?

Maybe there is! A cross-court forehand winner conjures up a break point at 30-40.

Cameron Norrie saves the first break point with a well-executed backhand passing shot.

But Alexander Zverev snaps up the second. He forces Norrie into the net with another drop shot and although the Brit chases it down, he's in no man's land as Zverev puts away the forehand winner.

    A double-break for the German.

Loose forehand, backhand into the net, two more break points for Alexander Zverev.

    Cameron Norrie is teetering.

Alexander Zverev has the ball on a string, executing a sliced backhand drop shot from the back of the court to tee up a forehand volley.

An ace down the T brings up 40-0 and after a brief staring contest with the birds, he completes a love hold - his fifth of the match.

It's a good second serve from Cameron Norrie, moving Alexander Zverev out wide, but his next forehand misses the open court. This match is on the verge of fizzling out.

  6. Break point Zverevpublished at 10:46 GMT 23 January

    *Norrie 5-7 6-4 3-6 0-1 Zverev

Cameron Norrie is a little bit flat. He looks downcast following a double fault and only issues a small "come on" as he forces a forehand error from his opponent - gone is the ethusiastic "allez"-ing of the previous sets.

Alexander Zverev earns a break point with a down-the-line backhand. Sigh.

  7. Zverev holdspublished at 10:44 GMT 23 January

    *Norrie 5-7 6-4 3-6 0-1 Zverev

That's up there with the shot of the day from Cameron Norrie. Alexander Zverev advances on the net, fails to put away two volleys, and Norrie passes the giant German with a pinpoint backhand: 30-15.

Unfortunately, it's his only point of the game. Where is he going to manufacture a break point from?

The only concern for me would be the body language we spoke about earlier.Zverev is walking around like he's the man and Cam is looking a little bit frustrated.

Is the belief there that he can stay with this man?

Cameron Norrie double faults to hand Alexander Zverev the third set.

The German had two break points in that set and converted them both, and also won all but two points on serve.

    *Norrie 5-7 6-4 3-5 Zverev

With the threat of further bird interference looming large (and let's face it, on Alexander Zverev's all-black outfit, it would show), the German keeps his composure to earn two set points.

This time it's Alexander Zverev's turn to call for assistance as the birds make another deposit behind the baseline.

A towel is duly dispatched and play briefly resumes.

Then, they target the court itself. More clean-up required.

  13. Norrie serving to stay in the setpublished at 10:35 GMT 23 January

    *Norrie 5-7 6-4 3-5 Zverev

Return points are going to be in short supply with Alexander Zverev's serve in this form. Norrie gets a racquet on three first serves but can't get any of them back into court.

He finally lands one but Zverev quickly works the ball onto his favoured backhand wing and gives it a tidy smote down the line.

Four love holds in a row between these two.

Cameron Norrie is sticking with his strategy of targeting Alexander Zverev's backhand side - something Jamie Murray advised against ahead of play - and forces three consecutive errors.

An ace confirms another hold to love.

    *Norrie 5-7 6-4 2-4 Zverev

An equally breezy hold from Alexander Zverev. He's not giving Cameron Norrie much of a look at his serve, although the Brit has converted his two break-point opportunities.

    My apologies, Mark.

Cameron Norrie, distracted by the birds sat high up in the stadium (and who may have been responsible for the on-court mess from a few moments ago), holds to love but he still trails by a break.

    *Norrie 5-7 6-4 1-3 Zverev

Alexander Zverev fires down an ace and a whipped forehand winner for 30-0 before netting a forehand.

The game briefly pauses as Cameron Norrie goes for a chat with the umpire. A ball kid is subsequently dispatched with a towel to do some mopping up behind the baseline.

Zverez creams a cross-court backhand winner from out wide, then miscues a forehand as Norrie gets on the front foot, before closing out the hold with a big serve which the Brit returns long.

All of a sudden, Zverev's body language has completely flipped. He is walking with more pace, looking like he wants to be there.

The door is open for him again to completely flip this around.
